Winner twice in 2024 and opened account for this season when coming from off the pace to land a 7-runner handicap at Nottingham (1¾m, good to soft) at the beginning of the month. Nudged up just 2 lb and merits serious consideration down in trip in this lower-grade contest.

Signs of ability in Irish maidens for Andrew Oliver and posted much his best effort since joining this yard when going close over 11f at Kempton in July. Could have a big role to play with top amateur booked, provided he is able to build on that now returned to turf.

Winless following 16 attempts for Antony Brittain, but has hit the target 3 times since joining this yard during the spring, the latest a Thirsk handicap over this trip in August. Has remained in good form since and it's not hard to envisage this 4-y-o playing a part in the finish.

Failed to go on from his winning debut for Michael Bell, but made a positive start for this yard back from a break at Epsom where he found just one too strong in a 1¼m Epsom handicap (good to soft). Didn't enjoy the best of runs at Yarmouth since and he's not without each-way hope.

Added 2 more Ffos Las handicaps (both over 1¼m on heavy) to his name last month. Not the greatest surprise that he failed to back that up at Wolverhampton recently (0-10 on AW tracks) and while this mark is pretty demanding, the 8-y-o will be a danger to all granted suitable conditions.

Positive start for this yard when just touched off at Haydock (11.6f, good), with the re-opposing Made All a neck adrift in third. Not disgraced at the same course upped to 1¾m next time, but ran poorly tried over hurdles recently and he looks vulnerable for win purposes. Tongue strap enlisted.

Performed with credit when runner-up in a Ffos Las novice on second run for Joe Tickle last year, but offered little on belated reappearance for new connections at Kempton.

His close-call at Newcastle in June is a standout effort in respect of this season and, having capitulated badly at Southwell last time, he is opposable on this debut for new yard. Blinkers refitted.

Southwell winner during the spring and made it 3-6 on turf when scoring in ready fashion at Ffos Las (1½m, good to soft) in June. Has made the frame on each of her 3 subsequent starts and she's one to consider.

Hit the target twice on the AW earlier this year and regained the winning thread when accounting for 10 rivaks at Haydock (1¾m, good) last month. 2 lb rise fair enough and should be on the premises, provided that this drop back in trip doesn't count against him.

Improved on recent efforts to win 12-runner handicap at Bath (11.6f, good to soft) on penultimate start. However, he did nothing but add to an all-or-nothing profile when down the field behind Letmebetheboss at Haydock.

Won twice over 1¾m/2m at Ffos Las earlier this season and, following a series of low-key efforts, he took a step back in the right direction when fourth of 11 at Goodwood (2m, good to firm) recently. On the downside, this drop back in trip is of dubious benefit.

Forecasts

Letmebetheboss (10/3), Made All (18/5), Expressionless (4/1), Prince Rasam (6/1), One Million Dreams (13/2), Alpine Stroll (9/1), Nivelle's Magic (9/1), Dr Waksman (11/1), Zambezi Magic (18/1), Roland Garros (20/1), Arkendale (20/1), Beggarman (25/1), Damascus Steel (28/1), Seeking Charles (66/1)

Verdict

Cases can be made for several of these, with ZAMBEZI MAGIC shading preference. He was a wide-margin winner at his beloved Ffos Las last month and, though now 11 lb higher in the weights, he remains on a competitive mark based on his peak form. Dr Waksman went down narrowly at Kempton and he is feared with Sam Walker booked, while Expressionless, Letmebetheboss and Nivelle's Magic are others with likeable claims.
