Fairly useful Flat winner for Andrew Oliver in Ireland and made an excellent start over hurdles, bagging maiden at Sedgefield and Victor Ludorum at Haydock for his new handler. Found Grade 1 company too much in the spring and makes handicap debut on return to action. Interesting contender.

Isn't straightforward but that hasn't stopped him winning 3 times over hurdles, defying a penalty with a conditional rider enlisted at Bangor a month ago. Opening mark doesn't appear to be overly generous.

Fairly useful 10f winner on Flat and landed a brace of juvenile hurdles in February/March. Pulled up in the Grade 1 Anniversary Hurdle in April but recent spin on the level will have blown the cobwebs away. Cheekpieces on and mark should be within range.

Hasn't been with current yard for long and returned to the pick of his Irish form when second of 5 at Newcastle in April. Disappointing in a deep handicap at Punchestown the following month and AW efforts last month hardly brimming with promise.

Dual winner in claimers over hurdles in France and performed with credit in some strong juvenile hurdles since coming to Britain, making encouraging start for Donald McCain when seventh of 22 in Fred Winter at Cheltenham. Bit disappointing at Ayr but has undergone wind surgery ahead of return.

Fairly useful (and lightly-raced) winner on the Flat who, having found only one too good on first 2 hurdle runs, won a maiden/handicap in February/March. Always behind back on the level a month ago but that should have put him spot on for this.

Useful juvenile over 17f in France, winning twice, but has made a distinctly underwhelming start on these shores, including on handicap debut in March. Hopes pinned on a break and a subsequent breathing operation working the oracle.

Fair form over hurdles and similar level over fences, placed in claimers at Pau last 2 starts. Claimed from J. Delaunay €13,001 after and usual headgear removed for British debut following 8 months off. Sean Bowen a positive jockey booking.

Fair Flat winner in Ireland for Gavin Cromwell and landed a pair of juvenile hurdles for Anthony Charlton at the end of 2024. Heavy defeats first 2 handicap starts but eased in class and more like it when second in May when last seen.

Fair maiden on Flat in Ireland and going the right way over hurdles for Jo Davis, making it 2 from 2 in handicaps in ready fashion at Ascot (15,7f) in March. Unable to continue the good work on return over 20.6f at Market Rasen but better expected here returned to 2m.

Fair on Flat and has quickly reached a higher level over hurdles, winning pair of early-season juveniles last summer and third in 3 Grade 2s. Form levelled off after and back from 5 months off but this mark needn't prove beyond him.

Fair juvenile hurdler/chaser in France who made winning start for Paul Nicholls over hurdles at Huntingdon (15.8f) in December. Easily best effort since when second of 9 at Cheltenham in April and she's sure to be well prepared for this return.

Recorded win number 3 over hurdles on handicap debut at Newton Abbot in August. Sound second from 6 lb higher last month so she's fit and in form.

Verdict

GIBBS ISLAND found a brace of Grade 1s beyond him in the spring but had created a pretty favourable impression prior to that so is selected to make a winning reappearance/handicap debut. Paul Nicholls has an enviable record at this meeting so Clotilda commands respect, while Aviemore could be the pick of the Harry Derham trio.
