BOYLE Sports Novice Hurdle (Grade 3)

Off time: 15:18 | Winning time: 3m 50.45s

Arch Empire¹¹

Age: 5| Weight: 11-1| J: Jack Kennedy| T: G Elliott| OR: 126

12/1

In good form in maidens on the Flat this season and got back on track over hurdles when second behind a well-bred, improving sort in a novice hurdle at Listowel (16f, good to soft) 11 days ago, yet to be asked for effort when slithered on landing 2 out. No surprise to see him progress again.

Form: 41F-242

God Of Thunder^p,t¹³

Age: 6| Weight: 11-1| J: Daniel King| T: D Hogan| OR: 123

28/1

Struggled from a stiff-looking mark in handicap hurdles earlier this season and refused to race on latest hurdles start in July. Took a step back in the right direction when fourth in a Flat handicap at Listowel (11.1f) 13 days ago. Tongue tie refitted but tough ask pitched into a graded hurdle.

Form: 83100-R

Love Me Tender⁷²

Age: 4| Weight: 11-0| J: Paul Townend| T: W P Mullins| D

1/4

Warm order when an impressive winner of a bumper at Tramore on debut and made a seamless transition to hurdles, jumping well and quickening clear to land a 14-runner novice hurdle at Kilbeggan (18.9f, good to soft) in July. Looks a very useful prospect and may well land the hat-trick.

Form: 11

Kilbuny Supersonic²³

Age: 5| Weight: 10-8| J: Cian Quirke| T: Richard J O'Hara| OR: 115

20/1

Winner of a mares' maiden hurdle at Wexford in May and has been consistent since. Still looked too high in the handicap when a well-held fourth of 9 in a handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe (22f, soft) 23 days ago. Tall order dropping back to 2m in this company.

Form: 6-13224

Pampar Lady¹⁴

Age: 6| Weight: 10-8| J: Sean Flanagan| T: G P Cromwell| OR: 120

16/1

Thriving at present, progressed again when landing a hat-trick in an 18-runner handicap hurdle (15/2) at Listowel (18f, good to soft) 14 days ago, travelled well and won more cosily than the bare margin implies. In the form of her life and has earned a crack at graded company.

Form: 6-62111

Whimsy¹⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 10-8| J: Alex Harvey| T: A McCann| OR: 122| D

13/2

Not for the first time showed a reluctance to start when winning a mares maiden hurdle at Gowran in March but seems to have turned a corner of late, running her best race when runner-up at Navan on reappearance (15.8f) 15 days ago. May come on for that and she merits respect stepping up in class.

Form: 33215-2

Forecasts

Love Me Tender (1/4), Zillow (9/2), Whimsy (13/2), Icare D'aubrelle (10/1), Arch Empire (12/1), Pampar Lady (16/1), Kilbuny Supersonic (20/1), God Of Thunder (28/1)

Willie Mullins has won 9 of the last 10 renewals of this race and his hat-trick seeking LOVE ME TENDER is fancied to enhance that record. Whimsy seems to have turned a corner with her behaviour at the start and was better than ever when runner-up at Navan on her return last month, while Willie Mullins' other runner Zillow showed improvement to get off the mark at Kilbeggan last time and should go well again. Gavin Cromwell's highly progressive mare Pampar Lady deserves an honourable mention.
