2 wins from last 3 starts at this track when forging clear for success in 7-runner handicap last month but did too much too soon upped in grade at Newcastle last time. Better expected back down in class returned to this course.

Below form when last seen on the Flat here in April. Won chase at Hexham 88 days ago but form has dipped in two subsequent chase runs. Remains to be seen if a change of headgear/return to the Flat can revitalise him.
|
Little impact in either code since leaving the Kerry Lee yard (sold for £4,000). Difficult to fancy on what he's shown for current connections.
|
Maiden has been hindering his chances with slow starts, gave himself a mountain to climb when very slowly away finishing fourth of 11 in handicap at Southwell (14.1F) 52 days ago wearing first-time blinkers. Has the form to be competitive in this company but remains a risky betting proposition.

Had been struggling over jumps for Amy Murphy but proved he's not a lost cause on first start for new yard when second of 6 in flat handicap at Musselburgh (16f) at 22/1 58 days ago, for all he was likely well placed off a strong pace. Chance if he can build on promise of stable debut.
|
Consistent stayer who won at Newmarket (16f) in June and finished second at Yarmouth (14f) in August. Third of 7 in handicap at Ripon (16f) 23 days ago (11/4), making headway late having been slowly into stride. Stays well and should remain competitive despite tendency to start slowly.
|
Possibly flattered when fourth of 6 in a Southwell novice and finished well beaten on handicap debut at the same track over a longer trip (14.1f) last month. Remains to be seen if marathon trip/addition of headgear sparks improvement.

Forecasts
Captain Potter (10/11), Young Merlin (7/2), Dereham (11/2), Dalton Park (9/1), Wasthatok (18/1), Glory And Honour (18/1), Louie's Folly (22/1)
CAPTAIN POTTER has an excellent record over staying trips at this course and can bounce back after doing too much too soon at Newcastle last time. Dereham brings consistent form in similar events and rates the main danger despite typically being a slow starter, while Dalton Park is very capable at this level but remains a risky betting proposition given his antics from the stalls.
