On a long losing run but that's reflected in his mark and he turned in his best effort of the season when visored for first time (retained) finishing creditable third of 10 in handicap at Newbury (12f, good to firm, 16/5) 19 days ago, running on. Respected off an unchanged mark in the same grade.

Course winner. Latest win at Newcastle in May and ran well on turf when runner-up at Thirsk earlier this month. Well beaten in a stronger race than he need contest at Newcastle (12.4f) on Thursday. Should be more competitive back down in grade if coping with a quick turnaround.

Won a novice at Lingfield (10f) in May and has proved consistent in handicaps, resuming winning ways in an 8-runner handicap at Leicester (11.8f, good) 32 days ago, when plenty went her favour. In fine heart but could be worth taking on for win purposes from her revised mark.
|
5-time course winner. Latest win here in July and again had a valid excuse when sixth of 10 in handicap (10/3) at this course (7.4f, good to firm) 26 days ago, short of room over 1f out and not recover. Slowly coming back down the weights and no surprise to see him in the mix.

Maiden finished third behind a pair of subsequent winners at Nottingham prior to matching the best of her 3-y-o form when a narrow runner-up at Chester (12.3f) last month. Far from disgraced in a better race over the same C&D earlier this month and she makes plenty of appeal back down in grade.
|
Improved of late, well-suited by the emphasis on speed at the trip when getting off the mark at Salisbury (12f) last month and found a bit more improvement to follow up in a 6-runner handicap at Leicester (11.8f) 14 days ago, always holding on. May need to pull out a bit more to land the hat-trick.

Twilight Moon (3/1), Flickering Halo (10/3), Percy's Daydream (7/2), Kokinelli (9/2), Dr Rio (15/2), Saratoga Gold (8/1), Princess Niyla (14/1)
A tricky puzzle with most arriving in form. Preference is for KOKINELLI who had some solid form at this level prior to running creditably in a better race than she need contest at Chester last time. She's taken to get off the mark back down in grade, with Princess Niyla feared most off the same mark as when successful at this course in May. Course specialist Dr Rio enjoyed a luckless passage here last month and merits plenty of respect stepping back up in trip.
