Gained a first win on turf with a career best in 12-runner handicap at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) in June and even better form when neck second of 20 to Great Acclaim (won since) at Glorious Goodwood 17 days ago. Raised another 3 lb but still much respected.
Improved performer this year, landing back-to-back handicaps in May. Another fine effort when second of 9 at Newmarket (7f, good) last month and ran about as well as could be expected in a Glorious Goodwood Group 3 last time.
A change of tactics worked a treat when snapping a losing run in valuable 1m Sandown handicap last month. Another cracking effort when narrowly denied by subsequent Stewards' Cup winner Two Tribes in International at Ascot (7f, good to firm) 3 weeks ago. Considered.
Progressive in handicaps last season. Has found listed/Group 3 company beyond her in her 2 outings this year but should find life easier back in a handicap. The return to 7f should also suit after racing too keenly over 1m last time.
Smart in his prime, including a success in Group 2 Hungerford on this card in 2022. Not the same force these days but his placed efforts at Haydock and Newmarket show that he's down to a mark he can be competitive from.
Group placed at 2 but has struggled since, including down the field in the Britannia at Royal Ascot (1m firm) in first-time cheekpieces (retained) in June. Freshened up since. Others are more obvious.
Useful effort to land 7f Goodwood handicap on reappearance. Has come up short in strong 3-y-o handicaps at Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood since but still early days and no surprise were he to get back on the up now taking on his elders for the first time. Also has cheekpieces added.
Career best when winning 15-runner handicap at York (7f, good to firm) last month. Excuses over a longer trip at Wolverhampton since and worth treating as if still in form.
Took his form up a notch when scoring at Newmarket (7f) last month and plenty went wrong at Glorious Goodwood since (run best ignored). Remains one to be interested in.
Doubled his career tally in 8-runner handicap at Salisbury (1m) in May. The handicapper has held the upper hand since, though.
Veteran who won this race in 2022 and is still capable of useful form, finishing respectable 2¼ lengths fifth of 15 to Obelix in handicap at York (7f, good to firm) 36 days ago.

Forecasts
Classic (11/4), Cracking Gold (9/2), Jumby (7/1), Consolidation (7/1), Leadman (15/2), Lou Lou's Gift (10/1), Havana Pusey (12/1), Cogitate (14/1), Obelix (16/1), Documenting (22/1), Wolf Of Badenoch (33/1)
LEADMAN enjoyed no luck at Goodwood and is well worth another chance to show he's still on a good mark. Cracking Gold and Classic arrive on the back of good efforts in very competitive handicaps and head the dangers in this useful contest.
