C&D winner in June. Respectable fifth of 13 in handicap at Yarmouth (10.1f, good to soft, 16/1) 19 days ago. Looks vulnerable for win purposes.

Thrice-raced winner. Won 11-runner maiden at this C&D (good to firm, evens) 47 days ago, readily. This unexposed colt may well have more to offer venturing down the handicap route.

Lightly-raced winner. Didn't need to be at best when winning 6-runner novice at Leicester (10f, good to firm, 2/9) 26 days ago, easily. More on his plate now handicapping, but represents a strong yard and he has to enter calculations.

Promising sort. Winner at Sandown in June. 6/5, respectable third of 13 in handicap at Yarmouth (10.1f, good to soft) 19 days ago, not ideally placed. Back on better ground, eased slightly in class and off 1 lb lower mark, there are certainly grounds on which he can be recommended.

Three-time C&D winner. 7/2, improved on recent efforts to win 5-runner handicap at this course (8.3f, good to firm) 10 days ago, having run of race. Hit with a 7 lb rise and this veteran will do well to complete the hat-trick now taking on several appealing 3-y-os.

Forecasts

Wave Rider (13/8), Danger Bay (5/2), Noble Horizon (3/1), Immediate Effect (17/2), Bubbles Wonky (12/1), Starliner (40/1), Ayr Poet (50/1)

Verdict

This looks very competitive and the 3-y-os are expected to dominate, with WAVE RIDER the pick of them. He did the job well in a Sandown maiden on penultimate start and wasn't seen to best effect on slower ground at Yarmouth next time. He remains open to improvement, a remark that also applies to Danger Bay, who opened his account at the third attempt in good style over C&D in June. Immediate Effect looks solid and should also be in the mix, along with other remaining 3-y-o Noble Horizon.
