Emphatic winner of a small-field 1¼m maiden at Roscommon and bettered that form on handicap debut when fifth of 19 at Royal Ascot 6 weeks ago, having to wait for a gap entering straight. Probably even better still to come.

Maiden winner here in the autumn and followed up with an impressive all-the-way win on handicap debut at Sandown on reappearance. That form has been boosted a few times subsequently but was unable to adopt the same positive tactics at Royal Ascot since (slowly away). Well worth another chance.

Promising individual who improved again to make a winning handicap debut at Haydock. Unable to complete the hat-trick at Newmarket since but did well in the circumstances, leaving the impression the drop back in trip wasn't ideal. Not taken lightly back up in distance.

Well-regarded colt who bagged novice at Lingfield before returning with a good second on handicap debut at Ascot. Only sixth at York next time but resumed progress/winning ways when easily making all stepping up to this trip at Salisbury. This much more competitive but of interest still.

Much improved sent handicapping last 2 starts, gaining compensation for his luckless Newbury run with a wide-margin success at Epsom 4 weeks ago. Has more to come and high on the shortlist.

Still a maiden but much improved when going down narrowly last 2 starts stepping up in trip, sure to have won with a clearer run at Haydock last time. Drop back in trip on this sharp track may not be ideal, however (will stay 2m).

Has improved with each of his 4 starts so far, headed only near the line after an attacking ride at Sandown on handicap bow last time. Remains with potential and should stay this far.

Completed hat-trick on handicap bow at Kempton and consistent in defeat since. However, has seemed to have reached his ceiling and up against plenty of potential improvers here.

Very cheap purchase considering his pedigree but continues to improve, off the mark at Southwell before just failing on handicap bow at Haydock after 6 months off. Proved game when making amends under more positive tactics at Doncaster 11 days ago and should have more to offer still.

Forecasts

Sing Us A Song (10/3), Novelista (7/2), Kurakka (4/1), Sudu (5/1), Omni Man (8/1), Jupiter Ammon (8/1), Cape Breton (16/1), Mdawi (22/1), Tuscan Star (80/1)

Verdict

SING US A SONG ended up caught much further back than ideal after a slow start at Royal Ascot 6 weeks ago so is well worth another chance having won a strong Sandown handicap in good style on his reappearance the time before. Roger Varian has won 2 of the last 4 renewals so Sudu is high on the shortlist after his easy win at Epsom, with Irish-raider Omni Man another to consider in what looks a hot 3-y-o handicap.
