Last of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f, 9/2) 33 days ago, doing too much too soon. Cheekpieces now replace the visor he's worn the last twice and there are doubts as to whether this step up in trip will work in his favour.

Lightly-raced maiden. 40/1, fifth of 6 in maiden at Chester (7f, good to firm) 17 days ago. Significantly up in trip for this handicap debut and it wouldn't be much of a surprise were she to take a step forward.

Forecasts

Homeland (5/4), Beta Reader (7/2), Sweet Cicely (9/2), Madrigal Moment (15/2), Noss Mayo (11/1), Cangofar (14/1)

Verdict

MADRIGAL MOMENT hasn't shown much in her three starts to date, but it appears as though she has been brought along with handicaps in mind. Now pitched into one off a lowly opening mark and with this step up in trip expected to be in her favour, she is taken to strike. Homeland is feared most, while fellow handicap debutante Noss Mayo may prove best of the rest.
