2024 winner of this race came with a strong run to lead on the line in the Carlisle Bell and again shaped as though still in form over the same C&D when fourth of 11 in handicap (8/1) (7.8f, heavy) 14 days ago. No surprise to see him in the mix again.

Thirteen runs since last win in 2024 but unlucky to bump into one on two of last 3 starts, including when second of 12 in handicap at York (7.9f, good, 14/1) 21 days ago, pulling clear of rest. Should give another good account.
7-time C&D winner (also runner-up in this race last year) shaped as if still in good form when bidding for the hat-trick last time, finishing sixth of 11 in handicap at York (8.8f, good to firm) 35 days ago, undone by rise in weights and slightly deeper race. Respected returning to this track.
Useful in his prime for Richard Spencer but has made a low-key start for new connections. Refitting of a visor needs to spark a revival.
3-time C&D winner (latest win here in May) takes his racing really well and again ran creditably when second of 6 in handicap at Pontefract (8f, good to firm) 19 days ago, no match for winner. Entitled to run well again.
Career best (second leg of a double) when winning 11-runner handicap at Wetherby (8f) and again ran well when fifth of 9 in handicap at Pontefract (8f, good) 11 days ago, better placed than most. Still remains of interest off this mark.

Forecasts
On The River (85/40), Paladin (16/5), Barley (10/3), Duke's Command (9/2), Cosmos Raj (6/1), Garden Oasis (6/1), Brave Empire (7/1), First View (16/1), Revich (22/1)
Little to separate most of these but PALADIN ran right up to form despite being unable to land the hat-trick at Pontefract earlier this month and there could well be another win in him from this sort of mark. He's marginally preferred to Duke's Command who's entitled to go close if bouncing back with a hood refitted, while 2024 winner On the River should again give a good account.
