Two wins from 5 runs last season (both in April). 9/4, found his run of wins and progression coming to a halt when second of 6 in novice hurdle at Cork (17.3f, good) just under 10 weeks ago. Remains of interest back in handicap company.

25/1

16/1, offered little back over hurdles after 8 months off when ninth of 12 in handicap at Punchestown (19f, good) 39 days ago. Hard to fancy.

Form: 1P563-9

Hees Dynamite³⁹

Age: 7| Weight: 11-4| J: Calum Hogan⁽⁴⁾| T: E McNamara| OR: 101

11/2

Won twice at Limerick in the autumn. Better for run after 5 months off when fifth of 17 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (23.5f, good, 16/1) 39 days ago.

Form: 31418-5

Give Him A Chance⁴⁶

Age: 6| Weight: 11-2| J: Tiernan Power Roche| T: P J Rothwell| OR: 99| D

5/1

9/2, continued a theme of progression since being switched to handicaps when winning 14-runner event at Kilbeggan (20f, good to soft) 46 days ago, leading approaching last. Not out of things despite a 10 lb rise in the weights.

Form: 0004F-1

Silent Selector^t⁸⁴

Age: 5| Weight: 11-2| J: John Shinnick| T: Gerard O'Leary| OR: 99

11/1

Winner at Limerick in April. Wasn't in anything like the same form when pulled up in handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan (18.2f, good, 8/1) later that month, said to have lost both front shoes. Bounce back needed.

Form: 98001P-

Swelltime⁶¹

Age: 9| Weight: 11-1| J: Jake Coen| T: W J O'Doherty| OR: 98| CD

Form: 10007-5

Ballinoe Blaze⁴⁷

Age: 5| Weight: 10-12| J: Gary Noonan| T: E McCarthy| OR: 95

16/1

Form: 5003-78

Gekkota²⁷⁵

Age: 9| Weight: 10-9| J: J G Gilligan⁽²⁾| T: T J O'Mara| OR: 92| D

28/1

Twelve runs since last win in 2022. Followed a below-par effort with an even worse one when tailed off at Punchestown (20f, good, 10/1) 9 months ago. Handicapper drops him a chunk and is worth a second look on return.

Form: P/05370-

Vintage Gold^b⁴⁷

Age: 6| Weight: 10-8| J: Eoin Staples⁽⁴⁾| T: J J Murphy| OR: 91| CD

7/1

Form: U343-79

Gaelic Des Chastys¹⁹⁷

Age: 9| Weight: 10-5| J: Patrick M O'Brien⁽⁴⁾| T: E McNamara| OR: 88

6/1

One win from 24 NH runs. 6/1, found run of good form coming to a halt after a 3-month break when eleventh of 20 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (20f, soft) when last seen 6 months ago. Hard to know what mood he'll be in on return.

Form: 6/12220-

Minority Interest³⁵⁶

Age: 5| Weight: 10-4| J: E M O'Sullivan⁽⁴⁾| T: P J Rothwell| OR: 87

25/1

100/1, left previous efforts well behind when second of 14 in handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan (18.9f, good) when last seen 11 months ago. Merits consideration from 1 lb lower provided he's ready to roll.

Form: 0/072-

Jekiki^t⁴⁷

Forecasts

Give Him A Chance (5/1), Party President (5/1), Hees Dynamite (11/2), Gaelic Des Chastys (6/1), Corkbeg (7/1), Vintage Gold (7/1), Doctor Confusion (8/1), Chapter Thirty (10/1), General Clermont (10/1), Silent Selector (11/1), Swelltime (14/1), Ballinoe Blaze (16/1), Derby Rock (16/1), Jekiki (22/1), Time Marches On (25/1), Minority Interest (25/1), Gekkota (28/1)

A host in with chances but having been well backed at Clonmel last month, CORKBEG took a notable step back in the right direction when fourth and David Kelly's 8-y-o gets the verdict to go a few places better from an unchanged mark. His main danger may emerge from Give Him A Chance, who bolted up at Kilbeggan recently and has been clobbered with a 10 lb rise. Party President, Doctor Confusion and Minority Interest all make some sort of appeal, too.
