bet365 Novices' Limited Handicap Chase (GBB Race)

Off time: 15:05 | Winning time: 4m 54.91s

Gale Mahler^p,t¹⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 11-10| J: B S Hughes| T: A Keatley| OR: 132| CD

13/8

Dual bumper scorer who made it win number 5 over hurdles at Ayr in the spring. Built on promise of chase debut when dropped in trip to easily win a 4-runner chase at this course 15 days ago, benefitting from a more positive ride. Remains open to improvement back up in trip.

Form: 0P10-31

Jaramillo⁸⁰

Age: 7| Weight: 11-1| J: James Bowen| T: W Greatrex| OR: 123| D

7/1

Fairly useful hurdler and quickly found improvement over fences, off the mark on third chase start when easily winning a weak 3-runner race at Newton Abbot (21f) in April. Low mileage as a chaser and further progress not ruled out.

Form: 712321-

Hecouldbetheone^p²⁴

Age: 8| Weight: 10-13| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: James Owen| OR: 121| C

3/1

Revitalised for current yard, adding to his hurdling tally at Plumpton in April and running right up to his best when jumping well to land a 6-runner handicap chase at this course (20.9f, good to soft) 24 days ago. Not fully exposed as a chaser and respected for yard still firing in the winners.

Form: 2515-21

Lady Jago²⁴

Age: 6| Weight: 10-8| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR: 116| D

6/1

Fair winning hurdler who has improved for fences, landing his third chase success over this trip at Ludlow last month prior to running as well in defeat over a longer trip at this course (24f) earlier this month. Should remain competitive back down in distance.

Form: P114-13

The Gypsy Davey⁵¹

Age: 7| Weight: 10-8| J: Adam Wedge| T: Evan Williams| OR: 116

6/1

2-2 as a hurdler and belatedly opened his account in this sphere when winning a 3-runner Hereford handicap in April, albeit perhaps a shade fortunate to do so. Followed up in another small-field event over the same C&D the following month. In fine heart but tougher task to land the hat-trick.

Form: 24341-1

Malton Groove^t²²

Age: 8| Weight: 10-5| J: Patrick M O'Brien⁽⁵⁾| T: D A McLoughlin| OR: 107

14/1

Longstanding maiden but arrives on the back of his best effort for current connections when fourth of 18 in a handicap chase (18/1) at Punchestown (24.7f, good) 22 days ago and would have finished closer were it not for a late error. Will likely need to improve again from 6 lb out of the handicap.

Form: 90323-4

Forecasts

Gale Mahler (13/8), Hecouldbetheone (3/1), Lady Jago (6/1), The Gypsy Davey (6/1), Jaramillo (7/1), Malton Groove (14/1)

GALE MAHLER has quickly found improvement over fences and there could be more to come back up in trip on only her third chase start. She can follow up her recent course victory at the expense of Hecouldbetheone who jumped well when battling to victory at this track 24 days ago, with neither Jaramillo nor Lady Jago discounted in an open-looking contest.
