€1,500 3-y-o, Yeats gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser Tightenourbelts and bumper winner Dares To Dream. Maiden pointer who was tongue tied and merely hinted at promise on last month's hurdles debut.

Notched second success on the Flat when narrowly landing a 1¾m Wolverhampton handicap in December. Showed more than he did on hurdles debut when third of 13 at Hexham a month ago (2m) and there should be more to come from him up in trip with a tongue tie fitted.

€48,000 3-y-o, third foal, half-brother to modest hurdler Sayitfirst (2m winner, by Sageburg). Dam unraced sister to fairly useful hurdler/smart chaser (stayed 3m) Opening Batsman. Newcomer for excellent stable.

Has evidently had his problems but went close to defying a near 2-year absence when second in maiden at Market Rasen in March. Winner has won again since and he also found just one too good at Uttoxeter 3 weeks ago, albeit having the run of the race.

Made the frame both starts in bumpers and placed on 3 of his 4 starts since switched to hurdles. Failed to meet expectations on handicap debut at Bangor but drop to 16.7f may have been against him. This is more suitable regarding trip.

Safely held by the winner on sole start between the flags last spring but that was a fair effort all the same. Also displayed ability when mid-field in a bumper at Perth in April. Step up in trip should suit now hurdling. Tongue tie on.

Disappointed on Taunton handicap debut just after Christmas but has bounced back to form with placed efforts in mares' maidens at Ludlow and Huntingdon. No impact back in a handicap at Newbury post breathing surgery in Match but this is an easier assignment. Tongue tie fitted.

No show in a couple of points and safely held both starts over hurdles this spring. Up in trip with a hood on.

Forecasts

Betty's Tiara (11/4), Final Straw (11/4), Banderas (9/2), Ilestdancingspirit (5/1), Little Dipper (13/2), Jumper Watt (7/1), Tree Top Tyson (8/1), At Mangan Bridge (25/1), Sea Thrift (150/1)

Verdict

Those with hurdles form don't boast the most compelling of profiles so FINAL STRAW may well be up to the job on debut given the stable he represents. It's taken connections a while to ger Jumper Watt to the track following his point win but he's an interesting contender, with Betty's Tiara also one to consider.
