17/2

Useful effort when landing a second career success in 1½m handicap at the Doncaster St Leger meeting last September. Creditable third in 13f AW listed race at Lingfield on final 3-y-o start. Only had 6 outings so may not have reached her limit for her leading stable.

Santorini Star²⁴

Age: 4| Weight: 10-1| J: Cieren Fallon| T: W J Haggas| OR: 89

15/8

Promising sort who took her career record to 3 wins from 5 starts when seeing off 4 rivals in 1¼m Brighton handicap last month. Well on top at the finish on that occasion, suggesting there could be even more to come now stepping up to 1½m.

Form: 211-51

(2)

Overture^p²⁶

Age: 4| Weight: 10-0| J: L Morris| T: Sir Mark Prescott| OR: 88

14/1

Most progressive in handicaps last year, completing a 4-timer at Yarmouth (11.5f, firm) in September at the expense of the reopposing Pique'. Shaped as if needing the run when behind a few of these on last month's Southwell reappearance. Should strip fitter now. Also has cheekpieces refitted.

Form: 31111-6

(5)

Pique'^h²⁶

Age: 4| Weight: 9-11| J: Daniel Muscutt| T: J R Fanshawe| OR: 85| D

20/1

Unable to reel in Overture at Yarmouth last September but came good at in the mud at Nottingham 3 weeks later on her final 3-y-o start. Had Overture behind her when a respectable fourth on 1½m Southwell reappearance 26 days ago but reopposing pair Orchard Keeper and Loving Look were ahead of her.

Form: 22221-4

(10)

Loving Look²⁶

Age: 4| Weight: 9-8| J: D Egan| T: H Morrison| OR: 82| D

14/1

Won a 1½m Kempton novice and 1¼m Newmarket handicap last year. Creditable third on 1½m Southwell reappearance but Orchard Keeper was ahead in second.

Form: 21331-3

(8)

Dancingwithmyself¹⁸

Age: 4| Weight: 9-8| J: Callum Shepherd| T: M L W Bell| OR: 82| D

11/1

Landed a double at Ripon last season and even better form when runner-up back at Ripon and at Kempton (both 1½m) this spring. Likely to give another good account for her in-form yard.

Form: 1146-22

(9)

Beset¹⁹

Age: 4| Weight: 9-7| J: W Buick| T: J P O'Brien| OR: 81| D

4/1

Ended her time with Henry Candy with a 1½m Wolverhampton win in October and followed up on return for new trainer Joseph O'Brien at Sligo (10.5f, good) last month. Going the right way and should make a bold bid for the hat-trick.

Form: 47821-1

(4)

Bas Bleu^h²⁰

Age: 4| Weight: 9-6| J: Saffie Osborne| T: E Walker| OR: 80| D

17/2

Signed off for 2024 with victory at Kempton in October and built on an encouraging reappearance back there when seeing off 5 rivals at Doncaster (1½m, good to firm) 20 days ago. Yet another who has to enter the reckoning.

Form: 3231-31

(1)

Orchard Keeper²⁶

Age: 4| Weight: 9-6| J: J Mitchell| T: R Varian| OR: 80

8/1

Returned with 2 good placed efforts last month, latterly finishing in front of reopposing trio Loving Look, Pique' and Overture when second at Southwell (1½m) 26 days ago. Has to enter the reckoning.

Form: 1423-32

(6)

Umbria¹⁸

Age: 4| Weight: 9-4| J: George Downing| T: E Walker| OR: 78| BF

25/1

Bolted up in 11f Kempton handicap on final 3-y-o start and bettered that form when close third (Dancingwithmyself second) over 1½m there on reappearance 18 days ago.

Form: 13471-3

Forecasts

Santorini Star (15/8), Beset (4/1), Orchard Keeper (8/1), Meribella (17/2), Bas Bleu (17/2), Dancingwithmyself (11/1), Overture (14/1), Loving Look (14/1), Pique' (20/1), Umbria (25/1)

SANTORINI STAR should be suited by 1½m and is selected to take the next step up the ladder for William Haggas but there are several possible dangers in this well-contested handicap, headed by the hat-tricking seeking Beset and Roger Varian's Orchard Keeper, who had 3 of these behind her when second at Southwell last time.
