8/1

Lightly-raced maiden fared no better following 3 months off (gelded in the interim) when fifth of 7 in handicap (4/1) at this course (12.2f) 24 days ago, looked a tricky ride. Back down in trip but others preferred.

Form: 769-65

Ignition^b¹⁰⁴

Age: 3| Weight: 9-8| J: Jack Doughty⁽³⁾| T: E Smyth-Osbourne| OR: 54| BF

3/1

Looked unlucky not to justify market confidence when third in a C&D handicap in February but failed to repeat that effort 6 days later over a longer trip, finishing fourth of 5 in handicap at Lingfield (10f). Has been given a break and merits consideration back down in trip.

Form: 9738-34

(8)

Pomme Pomme⁸^{(ex 6)}

Age: 3| Weight: 9-7| J: Edward Greatrex| T: J Channon| OR: 47

7/2

Lightly-raced sort proved a different proposition on handicap debut when winning 10-runner handicap at Bath (10.2f, good to firm, 16/1) 8 days ago, eased closed home. Carries a 6 lb penalty over this shorter trip but remains open to improvement.

Form: 9591

Scenario¹⁴

Age: 3| Weight: 9-6| J: Joe Leavy⁽³⁾| T: Jack Jones| OR: 52

22/1

Thrice-raced maiden again showed little when 28/1, sixth of 9 in maiden at Chelmsford City (6f) 14 days ago, though was entitled to need the run after 9 months off. One to keep an eye on in the betting now significantly up in trip on handicap debut.

Form: 70-6

Pure Imagination^p1,t1⁴²

Age: 3| Weight: 9-4| J: Daniel Muscutt| T: Michael Keady| OR: 50

16/1

Kodiac filly fared no better when sixth of 7 in maiden at Lingfield (6f, AW, 200/1) 42 days ago. Plenty to find on form but now steps up in trip with tongue strap/cheekpieces applied for handicap debut.

Form: 866

Benny The Bouncer^p1⁵⁷

Age: 3| Weight: 9-4| J: Warren Fentiman⁽⁵⁾| T: D Wingrove| OR: 50

150/1

Oasis Dream gelding again showed nothing when last of 12 in novice at Kempton (7f) 57 days ago on final run for Michael Attwater. Now tried in cheekpieces over a longer trip on stable/handicap debut. Needs more.

Form: 580

(10)

Invincible Storm²⁴

Age: 3| Weight: 9-2| J: Ryan Kavanagh⁽⁵⁾| T: E De Giles| OR: 48

7/2

Left previous efforts well behind on handicap debut following a gelding/breathing operation, given a more positive ride when runner-up to an unexposed sort at this course (7.2f) 24 days ago. Claims if he can repeat that effort over this stiffer test.

Form: 000-2

(4)

Mighty Real³⁵²

Age: 3| Weight: 9-0| J: Saffie Osborne| T: H Morrison| OR: 45

16/5

Speedily bred sort showed little in three starts for Jack Jones. Now tackles this extended mile on handicap/stable debut and it remains to be seen if improvement is forthcoming. (Races from 1 lb out of the handicap).

Form: 689-

(9)

Nanna Western²⁹³

Age: 3| Weight: 9-0| J: Gina Mangan| T: G Nicholls| OR: 45

25/1

Poor maiden finished last of 9 in maiden at Bath (5.7f, firm) in August. Reappears over a much longer trip and needs to improve significantly from out of the weights on handicap debut.

Form: 009-

Forecasts

Ignition (3/1), Mighty Real (16/5), Pomme Pomme (7/2), Invincible Storm (7/2), Kilteel (7/1), Aroof (8/1), Pure Imagination (16/1), Scenario (22/1), Nanna Western (25/1), Benny The Bouncer (150/1)

Despite carrying a 6 lb penalty, this looks a good opportunity for POMME POMME to follow up last week's handicap debut success. Ignition ran a career best on his penultimate start over C&D and he's a player if returning to that form following a break. Of the rest, Invincible Storm appeals most having finished runner-up on his first run in a handicap at this venue last month.
