Ended a long losing run in 7-runner handicap hurdle at Sedgefield (16.8f, firm) 7 days ago. Saddles a 7 lb penalty now but still not taken lightly.

Form: 53586-1

Socks Off^p³¹

Age: 8| Weight: 11-12| J: Joshua Thompson⁽⁷⁾| T: M & D Easterby| OR: 97| D

13/2

It's now 11 runs since his last win in 2023 but he posted a good third of 8 in handicap hurdle at Carlisle (19.3f, good) 31 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up once more.

Form: 23P333-

Allbetsoff¹⁷

Age: 9| Weight: 11-11| J: Jonathon Bewley| T: J K Hunter| OR: 96| CD

14/1

C&D winner who ended his time for Mark Walford with a good fourth of 9 in selling hurdle over C&D (good) 17 days ago. Considered on his yard debut.

Form: 37549-4

Cage Rattler^h¹³

Age: 5| Weight: 11-3| J: C O'Farrell| T: Miss S E Forster| OR: 88

14/1

Yet to score over hurdles and he came in only sixth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Kelso (20.9f, good) 13 days ago. Back down in trip with more required.

Form: 88734-6

Huit Reflets^p²⁵⁶

Age: 8| Weight: 11-1| J: Jamie Hamilton| T: M Walford| OR: 86| CD

10/1

C&D winner last June but lightly raced since and eighth of 12 in handicap hurdle at Bangor (16.7f, good) 8 months ago. Plenty to find on form on his comeback.

Form: 221278-

Grand Scheme^t⁸^{(ex 7)}

Age: 7| Weight: 10-12| J: Jonathan England| T: S England| OR: 76| D

11/10

A fairly useful Flat winner who recorded easily his best run over hurdles when landing 6-runner handicap at Southwell (15.8f, good to soft) 8 days ago. Shoulders a 7 lb penalty but had plenty in hand there so the one to beat.

Form: 545/5-1

Likleman^t1⁵⁰

Age: 4| Weight: 10-6| J: Edward Austin⁽⁵⁾| T: H McMahon| OR: 83

200/1

Unreliable type who failed to beat a rival on his yard debut (formerly with Simon West) in handicap hurdle at Newcastle (16.9f, good) 50 days ago, pulling too hard. Very hard to make a case for.

Form: 6479-

Blended Stealth^p³

Age: 8| Weight: 10-4| J: Peter Kavanagh⁽³⁾| T: Lizzie Quinlan| OR: 75

8/1

Remains a maiden after 35 runs and just eighth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Bangor (19.6f, good) 3 days ago. Easy to look elsewhere.

Form: 32995-8

Edmond Dantes^b⁸⁴

Age: 9| Weight: 10-2| J: Lorcan Murtagh| T: F P Murtagh| OR: 66

66/1

Is 0-22 and reverts to hurdles after a poor run of form over fences. Very hard to warm to.

Form: 07P776-

Forecasts

Grand Scheme (11/10), Addosh (7/2), Socks Off (13/2), Blended Stealth (8/1), Huit Reflets (10/1), Allbetsoff (14/1), Cage Rattler (14/1), Serious Ego (16/1), Wolfburg (16/1), Gemini Man (25/1), Edmond Dantes (66/1), Likleman (200/1)

Not as competitive as the numbers suggest and GRAND SCHEME is impossible to oppose under a 7 lb penalty for his recent facile Southwell victory. C&D scorer Serious Ego appeals as the one to chase home Sam England's improver ahead of in-form duo Socks Off and Addosh.
