4-time winner for John Gosden prior to making winning debut for current connections in December, landing a 5f Listed event in Meydan. Far from disgraced since, latest fifth of 7 on return to handicaps at Musselburgh last month, having been well backed. Up in trip but best efforts have come at 5f.

Landed 13-runner handicap at Southwell (5f) on reappearance prior to following up at Leicester 3 weeks ago, relishing the step up to 6f. That was a career best but he'll need to improve again to land the hat-trick in better company.

Capitalised on his falling mark when staying on to land a 5f Goodwood handicap 15 days ago. Step back up to 6f holds no fears but he isn't the obvious type to follow up.

Progressed through last season, ending campaign with back-to-back victories over this trip at Windsor and York having been aided by the application of blinkers. Looked rusty with headgear left off on his return and no surprise to see him resume progress with blinkers back on.

Dual 7f winner for Eve Johnson Houghton. Left behind form of debut for current connections when posting a career best at Newmarket earlier this month, beaten just over a length to finish sixth of 13, giving the impression he may still have needed the run. Not totally dismissed.

Underlined his consistency by hitting the frame for the third time this year when fourth in a 13-runner Newmarket handicap (6f) 2 weeks ago, doing best of those who raced towards the near wing. Arrives in great heart and should go well again.

Runner-up on all 4 starts this season, beaten by less than a head on three of those occasions including when narrowly denied at Newmarket (6f) 2 weeks ago, travelled well and only headed final strides. Deserves a change of luck and remains one to be interested in.

Dual winner for the Gosdens last year and has improved for current connections since being gelded, bagging 6f handicaps at Yarmouth and Doncaster. Left poorly placed when bidding for the hat-trick at Ascot 8 days ago and still makes appeal off the same mark.

Forecasts

Aramram (9/4), Elmonjed (5/2), Run Boy Run (7/1), Completely Random (15/2), Indian Run (8/1), Dorney Lake (9/1), Orazio (10/1), Cover Up (11/1), King's Lynn (16/1), Dream Composer (16/1), Rosario (25/1), Purest Time (33/1)

Verdict

DORNEY LAKE has looked a handicapper on the up since being gelded by new connections, winning twice before having excuses when bidding for the hat-trick last time. He still looks fairly treated racing off the same mark and can regain the winning thread at the expense of the ultra consistent Aramram who did little wrong when runner-up for the fourth consecutive start last time, while Run Boy Run wasn't ideally placed in the same race and looks set to give another good account.
