Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Fillies' Novice Stakes (GBB Race)

Off time: 16:41 | Winning time: 2m 8.85s

(3)

Lightning Touch⁵¹²

Age: 4| Weight: 10-2| J: Ray Dawson| T: R Varian| BF

17/2

Twice-raced maiden. Fourth of 13 in maiden (9/4) at Kempton (8f) when last seen 17 months ago. Subsequent absence is naturally a concern but, as a well-bred filly representing a leading yard, she is nonetheless greatly respected up in trip here.

Sweet Nightingale⁹¹⁷

Age: 8| Weight: 10-2| J: Rhys Clutterbuck| T: P Gundry

250/1

Fourth of 7 in handicap hurdle (7/1) at Taunton (19f, good) on her latest appearance back in November 2022. Readily passed over on belated debut in this sphere.

Form:

(6)

Cloaks Of Gold

Age: 3| Weight: 9-1| J: S M Levey| T: R HannonWS

15/2

Cracksman filly. Half-sister to 1m winner Subaana and useful 2-y-o 1m winner Subastar. Dam, 8.3f winner, closely related to high-class winner up to 1m Dubawi. Lots to like on paper and she's very much one to note in the betting.

Form:

(5)

Club Class¹⁹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-1| J: Daniel Muscutt| T: J R Fanshawe

1/1

Promising individual. Third of 10 in novice at Haydock (8f, good to firm, 9/2) 19 days ago, conceding first run. Up in trip and she's open to progress.

Form: 5-3

(4)

Princess Rascal¹⁵

Age: 3| Weight: 9-1| J: Billy Loughnane| T: P & O Cole

15/8

Promising individual. 25/1, finished last of 6 at Ascot (8f, firm) on debut 15 days ago, but she put in good late work once the penny dropped and this step up in trip will be right up her street. Major player.

Form: 6

(1)

Simply Ruby²²

Age: 3| Weight: 9-1| J: David Probert| T: E Walker

16/1

Once-raced maiden. 12/1, fifth of 9 in maiden at Lingfield (12f, AW) on debut 22 days ago. That experience won't be wasted on her and she should do better in time.

Form: 5

Forecasts

Club Class (1/1), Princess Rascal (15/8), Cloaks Of Gold (15/2), Lightning Touch (17/2), Simply Ruby (16/1), Sweet Nightingale (250/1)

Despite facing four promising fillies who have experience to draw upon, newcomer CLOAKS OF GOLD is an appealing candidate for the Hannon team. Indeed, she ticks plenty of the right boxes on paper and it goes without saying that confidence behind her in the betting would look significant. Princess Rascal started to motor late in the day on her introduction at Ascot and she is second choice ahead of Club Class and Lightning Touch.
