Fair performer who was suited by the emphasis on speed when gaining a second career success in 9-runner C&D handicap (good) in December. Matched that form from 4 lb higher when third back here a month ago and he can make his presence felt again.

Showed improved form quickly reverted to hurdling when off the mark in 9-runner handicap here over 2m and followed up unpenalised at Wincanton. New mark kicked in and he was brushed aside in hat-trick bid. Back up in distance now.

Hereford novice winner in November but hasn't really made an impact in handicaps since, showing little back down in class at Ffos Las 17 days ago. Edged further 2 lb down the weights.

Lightly-raced hurdle winner who placed 3 times in handicaps last spring. Disappointing on return at Exeter (21.6f) in February, carrying his head awkwardly under pressure prior to being pulled up but down in trip and much more like it when second at Plumpton 17 days ago. Up in trip and major player.

Fair form over hurdles in France last year. Yet to replicate that level in Britain for current yard, for all he's finished second a couple of times in juvenile company. Gets age allowance now handicapping so he's an interesting contender.

Fair hurdler/chaser but lightly raced and hasn't shown the same level of ability in Britain, offering precious little in 3 starts since returning from 16 months off in November.

Forecasts

Him Malaya (5/2), Jubilee Gold (4/1), Man Of The Sea (9/2), D'jo Dela Barriere (9/2), American Land (13/2), Valadon (7/1), El Gavilan (8/1), Blackhillsofdakota (25/1)

Verdict

EL GAVILAN is well weighted on his French form and in receipt of a handy age allowance now handicapping, he could be the answer. Jubilee Gold has to be of interest on his Plumpton run with this trip promising to suit. Him Malaya also needs considering.
