Seventh of 11 in novice at Newbury (6f) on debut last Summer but, having attracted support, went backwards from that effort when a well-beaten eighth of 12 in maiden over C&D (good to soft) 6 months ago. Needs to take a big step forward.

Twilight Son colt who was well backed and showed plenty of ability when second of 7 in novice at Goodwood (6f, heavy) on debut 6 months ago, likely to have gone very close but for meeting trouble at the hands of the winner. Sure to progress.

Too Darn Hot colt who shaped very well by the end having been easy to back when third of 12 in novice at Kempton (6f) on debut 4 months ago, the penny dropping late on. Upped in trip for his turf debut and looks sure to improve on that initial effort.

Make Believe colt who was well backed and shaped with plenty of encouragement when second of 16 in maiden at Doncaster (7f, soft) on debut 6 months ago, faring best of the many newcomers and pulling clear of rest. Could well be one to follow this season.

Made a promising start to career behind a previous winner when runner-up in a Kempton novice on debut in August but, having been strong in the betting, went backwards from that effort back there the following month. Market check advised on return/turf debut (has been gelded).

Forecasts

Indian Springs (2/1), Kaleido (5/2), Nakeeb (16/5), Raafedd (15/2), Sheikh Raj (14/1), Great (20/1), Competizione (25/1), Silent Storm (25/1), Time Allowed (33/1), Regal Guest (33/1), Dragonflame (40/1), Hockney (200/1), Licence To Conquer (200/1)

Verdict

A host of promising 3-y-os on show with preference for KALEIDO, who shaped with plenty of encouragement when runner-up in a deep back-end Doncaster maiden last year and he can go one better with improvement on the cards. Indian Springs found the penny dropping late on when third at Kempton in December, so he's put forward as the main threat, with Raafedd, Great and Nakeeb a trio of others worth considering, too.
