BetMGM Kingwell Hurdle (Grade 2) (GBB Race)

Off time: 13:36 | Winning time: 3m 56.00s

Burdett Road^t⁵¹

Age: 5| Weight: 11-8| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: James Owen| OR: 150

6/4

Classy dual-purpose performer who ran out a game winner of the Greatwood Handicap at Cheltenham before a fine effort behind Constitution Hill and Lossiemouth in the Christmas Hurdle (held when bad mistake last but had led 2 out). This is much easier.

Form: 112-13

Hansard²⁹

Age: 7| Weight: 11-8| J: N F Houlihan| T: G & J Moore| OR: 141

14/1

Smart hurdler who landed the Gerry Feilden at Newbury in December 2023 and shaped well on his comeback at Kempton over Christmas. Not so good at Windsor since, however (plenty to do), and faces a stiff task on these terms. The only one of the 4 without a Champion Hurdle entry.

Form: 4/215-48

Brentford Hope^p,t²¹

Age: 8| Weight: 11-4| J: Paul O'Brien| T: Harry Derham| OR: 146| CD

11/2

C&D winner with few blots on his copybook, faring as best as could have been expected behind Constitution Hill in first-time cheekpieces in the International at Cheltenham 3 weeks ago. Not sure this scenario will play to his strengths.

Form: 112-202

Golden Ace⁴⁵

Age: 7| Weight: 11-0| J: Lorcan Williams| T: J Scott| OR: 144| BF| CD

6/5

Unbeaten in 4 novice hurdles last season, including the Dawn Run at Cheltenham (beat Brighterdaysahead), and encouraging runs in the Ascot Hurdle and Relkeel this time around. She's a notably strong-travelling type who will benefit from this return to 2m. Appealing.

Form: 1111-43

Forecasts

Golden Ace (6/5), Burdett Road (6/4), Brentford Hope (11/2), Hansard (14/1)

GOLDEN ACE has been crying out for a return to 2m and this race could be tailor-made for Jeremy Scott's star. Greatwood winner Burdett Road excelled himself in the Christmas Hurdle, leading until 2 out and likely to have finished even closer had he not belted the last. He's the forecast selection ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies for the first time.
