Modest form at best in a trio of bumpers and went with little encouragement sent hurdling when well held in a Kelso novice (22.7f, good to soft) in December. Looks to be up against it.

Ran to a fair level first 2 starts in bumpers. However, well held on final outing last season and has struggled in 2 maiden hurdles for current yard, reported to have breathing problem when pulled up last time. Best watched.

Down the field in a pair of bumpers and hasn't fared any better in novice hurdles last 2 starts, well-beaten eighth of 12 at this C&D (good to soft) 16 days ago. Needs to leave his previous efforts well behind.

Irish point winner and was leading when fell 3 out on final outing in November 2023. Shaped as if better for the run when fourth in maiden at this course (16.9f, good to soft) on hurdling debut last month, so he could take a step forward.

Remains a maiden after 9 starts over hurdles. In first-time tongue strap after 11 weeks off, first run since leaving John F. O'Neill when last of 11 in maiden at Ayr (20.4f, soft) 42 days ago. Has plenty to prove.

Irish point winner who has shown fair form over hurdles, only narrowly denied in a Hexham novice on third start. Faced a stiff task in Grade 2 at Haydock last month, so he could get back on track returned to calmer waters.

Won 2 of his 8 start in points. Bred to stay well and shaped in kind when well-beaten third of 6 in novice at Leicester (20.5f, heavy) on hurdling bow 23 days ago. Looks one for further down the line.

Purchased for £105,000 after winning an Irish point and has shaped encouragingly when placed both starts in maiden hurdles, third of 9 at Ayr (24.3f, soft) on his latest outing 23 days ago. Can make his presence felt.

Point runner-up who was third at Bangor only start in bumpers. After 16 months off, finished sixth of 10 in maiden at this C&D (good to soft) on hurdling debut 4 weeks ago and he's likely to need further in time.

Some encouragement in bumpers and was helped by longer trip when runner-up in a Catterick novice (19.3f) on hurdling debut. Ran to similar level when fourth in maiden over C&D (good to soft) last time, but more needed in this contest.

Black Sam Bellamy gelding. Dam, little impact sole start over hurdles/in bumper, half-sister to bumper winner/fair hurdler (stayed 2¾m) Flaygray. Has a fair standard to aim at on debut.

Timeform
Runner-up only start in Irish points back in November 2023 and offered something to work on when third of 11 in maiden at Ayr (20.4f, soft) on hurdling debut 42 days ago. Could be in the mix with improvement to come.

Winning pointer who made the frame sole outing in bumpers and fair form in 2 hurdle starts to date, a late blunder costing her when second of 8 in a Bangor novice (23.2f, soft) in November. Leading contender.

Forecasts

Carrig Kate (3/1), St Olan's Well (3/1), Jo Coko (16/5), Famous Liss (6/1), King Of Answers (7/1), Norah's Legacy (11/1), Double Digits (12/1), Grangeclare Diego (40/1), Bogleyburn (300/1), Dartmhor (400/1), Dreamings Free (400/1), Dante's Inferno (400/1), Sambel Bay (400/1)

Verdict

CARRIG KATE improved from her hurdling debut when runner-up at Bangor last time, seeming likely to have won but for a mistake at the last, so she is taken to gain compensation this time around. The biggest threat could come from Jo Coko, who has made an encouraging start to his hurdling career, ahead of St Olan's Well.
