Dream Weddings At Western House Hotel Handicap Hurdle

Off time: 15:10 | Winning time: 4m 12.03s

Maghlaak⁵^{(ex 7)}

Age: 6| Weight: 12-5| J: James Robottom⁽¹⁰⁾| T: A Keatley| OR: 108| D

1/1

Fairly useful Flat performer who is going the right way over hurdles for new yard, following Wetherby novice success with a ready Catterick handicap win under James Robottom on New Year's Day. A penalty seems unlikely to stop him.

Form: 44411

Hasty Brook^t³³

Age: 8| Weight: 12-2| J: Nathan Moscrop| T: R Menzies| OR: 112

22/1

Fairly useful at his best over hurdles but offered little after 20 months off at Haydock 33 days ago. Best watched unless the betting strongly hints otherwise.

Form: 2P724/6

Yorkshire Lady³⁰

Age: 7| Weight: 11-12| J: Jamie Hamilton| T: M & D Easterby| OR: 108| C| D

15/2

Won a 2m Wetherby novice on hurdle last February. First hurdle outing since when fifth in handicap back there last month. Could benefit from that first experience of a handicap hurdle and retains potential.

Form: 1-5

Pacini³³

Age: 5| Weight: 11-12| J: Alan Doyle⁽⁵⁾| T: A B Hamilton| OR: 108| D

100/1

Has gone the wrong way since winning a Fairyhouse maiden hurdle for Gordon Elliott last December, including beaten a long way in 2 handicap starts for new yard.

Form: 79-P505

Rock On Jet^h1⁶⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 11-9| J: Danny McMenamin| T: G Bewley| OR: 105

5/2

Placed on all 3 starts over hurdles, on the latest finishing 13 lengths third over C&D in November (subsequently found to have bled from the nose). Wears a first-time hood now handicapping.

Form: 225-323

It's Dan^t²⁹

Age: 7| Weight: 11-6| J: Ben Smith⁽⁷⁾| T: R M Smith| OR: 102

18/1

Showed promise in maiden hurdles in spring 2023 and again back from a long absence at Kelso in December. His opening mark isn't obviously generous but he is a potential improver.

Form: 9725/6

Ballyfort^h,t²²

Age: 7| Weight: 11-4| J: Bruce Lynn| T: N W Alexander| OR: 100

13/2

Well held on Kelso handicap hurdle debut/reappearance in October and has failed to complete in a pair of handicap chases since. Not the easiest to assess back hurdling.

Form: 635-0FU

Forecasts

Maghlaak (1/1), Rock On Jet (5/2), Ballyfort (13/2), Magnolia (7/1), Yorkshire Lady (15/2), Kazar Forez (10/1), Benito (16/1), It's Dan (18/1), Hasty Brook (22/1), Pacini (100/1)

A race which essentially revolves around MAGHLAAK, who will be hard to beat under a penalty if over his New Year's Day exertions. Yorkshire Lady could be wiser with her first experience of a handicap hurdle behind her and is second choice ahead of handicap newcomer Rock On Jet.
