Boasts a good record when fresh and bolstered that after 6 months off when landing 6-runner C&D handicap (good to soft) in October. Commensurate with his in-and-out profile he misfired at Newcastle next time but this 11-y-o will be a player if on a going day. Yard also represented by Monochromix.

Bettered hurdles exploits switched to fences in second half of last term, making the frame in 3 handicap chases at around 2½m here (twice) and at Carlisle. No progress in cheekpieces both starts this season but could have a say if the new headgear (first-time blinkers) and step back up in trip help.

Winner of Ffos Las handicap on second start over fences/final run for Sam Thomas in April 2023. Went close twice in higher-grade handicap chases at Newcastle last winter and, though well held all 3 starts so far this season, he is very dangerous to discount eased in class off this reduced mark.

Opened chase account on reappearance last season and placed all 6 subsequent starts during that campaign. Coped with the sizeable step up in trip when third in the Borders National at Kelso (32.4f, soft) last month and he's strongly respected on this first attempt at 3m.

Forecasts
Travail D'Orfevre (11/8), Montregard (15/8), Monochromix (11/4), Shighness (3/1), Prince Des Fichaux (4/1), Destiny Is All (9/2)
The consistent TRAVAIL D'ORFEVRE could be the answer on his first attempt at 3m following a highly respectable effort over a marathon trip in the Borders National. It took a few runs before Prince des Fichaux was able to do himself justice last season and he will be a real threat if able to reproduce the form he showed at Newcastle last winter. Monochromix also makes some appeal.
