Mic Drop¹⁹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-12| J: Cian Quirke⁽⁵⁾| T: D M O'Brien

15/2

Bumper winner at Clonmel in November. Showed more than on hurdles debut when fourth of 18 in novice hurdle (4/1) at Cork (16.2f, soft) 19 days ago but he'll likely need to progress again if he's to land this conceding weight all round.

Form: 1-34194

Colorado Charlie⁴

Age: 5| Weight: 11-4| J: Phillip Enright| T: J Halley

28/1

Twice-raced maiden. 80/1, in process of running below debut form when taking a heavy fall in maiden hurdle at Leopardstown (19.8f, good) 4 days ago. Handicaps could be more his bag on the back of this.

Form: 5F

Leinster King³⁶

Age: 10| Weight: 11-4| J: Liam Quinlan⁽³⁾| T: Ms M Flynn

200/1

Thrice-raced maiden under NH rules. 125/1, last of 11 in bumper at this course (16.2f, heavy) on bumper debut 36 days ago. Hard to make a case for having been well beaten in 2 hurdle starts previously.

Form: P70

Long Branch²²¹

Age: 5| Weight: 11-4| J: Brian Hayes| T: S Neville

28/1

€38,000 3-y-o, Idaho gelding. Making NH debut here. Dam unraced sister to top-class chaser (stayed 25f) Nacarat. Off mark in points early last year but likely one for longer term.

Form: 8-1

Machismo³³

Age: 6| Weight: 11-4| J: Josh Williamson⁽⁷⁾| T: G Elliott

16/5

Fair hurdler. Fifth of 8 in novice hurdle at Thurles (22.9f, good to soft, 11/4) 33 days ago, not knocked about. Longer trips/chasing could well be more his bag in due course but claims of making the frame nevertheless.

Form: 534-425

Thoughtsarethings³⁸

Age: 5| Weight: 11-4| J: Ben Kennedy⁽⁷⁾| T: S Fahey

150/1

Wings of Eagles gelding. 40/1, fifth of 9 in bumper at Punchestown (16.8f, good to soft) on NH debut 38 days ago. Makes hurdles debut. Up in trip.

Form: 5

Unknown Entity³¹

Age: 5| Weight: 11-4| J: Danny Mullins| T: W P Mullins| BF

2/1

Runner-up only start in points and fair form both starts in bumpers, latterly when third of 7 at Fairyhouse (16.5f) 31 days ago. Appeared to be found wanting for a change of gear then so this longer trip promises to suit now hurdling. Respected.

Form: 24-3

Glorious Singer^p¹⁹

Age: 10| Weight: 10-11| J: Mike O'Connor| T: Ms M Flynn| OR: 80

125/1

Poor hurdler. Remains a maiden after 30 hurdle runs. Pulled up in handicap hurdle (66/1) at Cork (20f, soft) 19 days ago, pulled up before 3 out. Vlunerable once more returned to maiden company.

Form: 0-7008P

Lucky Lioness³¹

Age: 6| Weight: 10-11| J: Paddy Cody⁽⁷⁾| T: Debbie Cody

40/1

Lucky Speed mare. Half-sister to fair hurdler Holy Motivation. Dam (h92), maiden hurdler, half-sister to fair hurdler/fairly useful chaser (stayed 3m) Inistioge. Winning pointer, third last time (Dec 1).

Form: 741-3

Rachel's Secret^t³⁷²

Age: 6| Weight: 10-11| J: Rachael Blackmore| T: H De Bromhead

11/8

Lightly-raced mare who ran to a fair level when runner-up on each of her 2 starts over hurdles last winter. Not so good in bumpers either side of those efforts but respected returned to this sphere after 12 months off on debut for new yard.

Form: 2/2023-

Forecasts

Rachel's Secret (11/8), Unknown Entity (2/1), Machismo (16/5), Mic Drop (15/2), Long Branch (28/1), Colorado Charlie (28/1), Lucky Lioness (40/1), Glorious Singer (125/1), Thoughtsarethings (150/1), Leinster King (200/1)

UNKOWN ENTITY very much appeals as the type who will be suited by this longer trip now his attentions switch to hurdling and, with a recent run in a bumper under his belt, Willie Mullins' charge is fancied to make a bold bid to make it first time lucky in this sphere. Rachel's Secret and Machismo have both run to a fair level over hurdles previously and may well emerge as the chief dangers.
