'Bet In Race' With Coral Handicap Hurdle

Won a brace of novice hurdles last autumn and showed better form in defeat in handicaps thereafter, finding only one too good for a third consecutive start (in first-time blinkers) in a valuable event at Uttoxeter (23.3f) in March. Did too much too soon on return at Hexham and remain of interest.

Gained reward for a string of good efforts in handicap hurdles when staying on to lead close home at Exeter (23.1f) in February and far from disgraced in deeper contest at Cheltenham 2 months later. Shaped as if amiss on first start for current yard at Newton Abbot on reappearance.

Has recorded 2 chase wins already this term but turned in a lacklustre display when third of 5 in handicap chase at Wincanton (25.1f) on most recent outing. Switches back to hurdles.

Made it a remarkable 9 wins in 10 starts when seeing off 5 rivals over C&D (heavy) last December. However, pulled up in Betfair Stayers' Handicap at Haydock on his belated return a fortnight ago and looks best watched at present.

Is a long time without a win but ran creditably in a small-field handicap at Lingfield (23f, good) last month and has been dropped another 1 lb.

Successful on sole outing in points and made the most of a good opportunity when landing a Hereford maiden (19.7f) in March. Followed up on handicap debut back there the following month and possibly needed the run on his reappearance at Newton Abbot.

C&D winner who has been given a chance by the handicapper and stepped up on his reappearance when fourth of 12 at Cheltenham (3m) 3 weeks ago, closing when hanging left approaching last. One to keep an eye on.

Fairly useful in bumpers and made a successful debut over hurdles in 9-runner maiden at Southwell (20.4f, heavy) in March, making most. However, let down by a clumsy round of jumping at Ludlow 7 months later and has been handed a stiff-looking mark.

Fair Flat winner who won 3 times over hurdles for Dr Richard Newland, leaving that stable after taking a Wetherby seller in March. Satisfactory start for new yard when fourth in 10-runner Kempton handicap in May and must enter the reckoning from a 2 lb lower mark.

Veteran who was successful on her first and final start last season. Looked rusty when finishing last of 4 on her Lingfield return, going in snatches.

Dual hurdles/chase winner who was largely disappointing during a light 2023/24 campaign for Toby Lawes and offered little starting out for a new yard at Cheltenham last month. Easily passed over.

Improver last season, winning a pair of 3m handicaps in February and even better form when narrowly denied at Exeter in April. However, ran out at the seventh on his return at Doncaster last week.

SUPREMELY WEST progressed well over hurdles last season and, having done too much too soon on his Hexham return, he's well worth another chance. Thanksforthehelp seems to be building back up to something from a potentially lenient mark and strong market support for him would look significant, with Art of Diplomacy completing the shortlist.
