Porgressive form over hurdles, going with plenty of zest when making all at Uttoxeter 3 weeks ago, eased close home. Can make a good fist of it under a penalty.

Improved from debut when winning 7-runner amateurs maiden bumper at Loudeac in April 2023. Underwhelming for Nicky Henderson, including on hurdling debut at Newbury 8 months ago. Sold quite cheaply and weakened out of it behind Nowmelad at Uttoxeter. Tongue tie may help.

Showed nothing for Charlie Longsdon and likely a handicap project for new yard.

£100,000 buy after finishing runner-up completed start in Irish points and readily justified favouritism at Sandown on first go under Rules. Found the Champion Bumper too much a month later but he's joined another very respected stable ahead of hurdles bow. Has had a breathing op and tongue tied.

€60,000 half-brother to fair hurdler Garcon Doux. Perfect start in 3-runner newcomers bumper at Fakenham by 17 lengths (5/6) 141 days ago, making all. Found out in a better race at Market Rasen and now goes hurdling.

€17,500 3-y-o, £40,000 5-y-o, Mahler gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including fairly useful hurdler Silk Run, probably stayed 3¼m, and fair hurdler Empty The Tank. Runner-up sole outing in Irish points and looks a long-term project under Rules.

Made a promising start to career when second of 9 in a juvenile hurdle at Lyon Parilly (16.9f, soft) in March on sole start for David Cottin. Joined the Skelton yard and showed plenty to work on when occupying the same spot at Chepstow 3 weeks ago. One to beat with prospect of more to come.

Mahler gelding. Half-brother to a point winner. Dam, unraced, closely related to smart chaser (stayed 21f) Fix The Rib and useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 3m) Frascati Park. Likely to need time and distance and shaped that way on C&D debut in July.

Dam, French bumper winner, half-sister to fairly useful chaser (stayed 3¼m) Azrou d'Ex. Fair form in bumpers, won maiden at Machecoul in 2023/24, below form when 15½ lengths fifth of 11 to Kimi de Mai at Nantes last time. Has left Alain Couetil.

Ran to a fair level in bumpers in France for Emmanuel Clayeux. Offered something to work on when just under 10 lengths last of 4 in quite a useful juvenile event on his Haydock hurdles debut but not in the same form at Newbury.

Half-sister to 5 winners, including bumper winner/fairly useful hurdler Space Voyage and fairly useful hurdler Crest. Dam, 2m-2½m hurdle winner, half-sister to Grand National winner Rule The World. Displayed some ability when fifth both starts in bumpers and can do better over obstacles.

Verdict

Ex-French performer BEAU QUALI showed plenty to work on when runner-up at Chepstow 3 weeks ago and with the promise of more to come, he's the percentage call. Sixmilebridge was thought good enough to contest the Champion Bumper in the spring and has to be of interest now hurdling for his new yard on the back of a breathing op. Nowmelad completes the shortlist under a penalty.
