Edison Kent^p¹⁸

Age: 8| Weight: 12-0| J: Mr Alex Chadwick⁽⁵⁾| T: James Owen| OR: 120

18/1

Back to his best when scoring over hurdles at Uttoxeter in June but he hasn't come close to reproducing that in 4 subsequent starts.

Form: 210958

Ballintubber Boy^v⁶⁹

Age: 7| Weight: 12-0| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR: 120| CD

3/1

Made every post a winning one in this race 12 months ago and maintained 100% record at this course when proving a neck too strong for Edison Kent back here in May. Wasn't disgraced all things considered at Galway last time but his error-prone jumping remains a concern.

Form: PP14-18

Porter In The Park⁷²

Age: 7| Weight: 11-12| J: Joe Anderson⁽³⁾| T: Miss E C Lavelle| OR: 118| C

15/2

In good form earlier this year, recording form figures of 1212 from April to June and would've finished closer than he did but for a bad mistake 2 out at Uttoxeter when last seen in July. Couldn't rule out.

Form: 31-2125

Planet Legend^p²²

Age: 5| Weight: 11-11| J: Luke Scott⁽⁵⁾| T: Dr R Newland| OR: 117| C

13/2

Posted solid efforts in defeat when just touched off by Porter In The Park at Ludlow and third to Ballintubber Boy over this C&D during the spring. Another good display when runner-up on recent return from a break at Worcester (23f, good) and he's high on the shortlist.

Form: 6/472-32

Kitesurfer⁴¹

Age: 5| Weight: 11-7| J: G Sheehan| T: Jamie Snowden| OR: 113

9/2

French juvenile winner in 2022 and has won 2 of his 3 completed starts since undergoing a wind op last winter, most recently landing an 11-runner handicap at Worcester (23f, good) in August. 6 lb rise demands more but he's clearly at the top of his game.

Form: 4P9-1F1

Clararose^p1,t¹⁴

Age: 6| Weight: 11-3| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR: 109| BF

9/2

Improved over hurdles since tongue tied, opening her account over 21f at Warwick in May and has done little wrong since, narrowly outpointed by Stans The Man upped to 3¼m there (good) a fortnight ago. Now tried in cheekpieces and she's a strong candidate.

Form: 124232

Stans The Man^p,t¹⁴

Age: 7| Weight: 11-1| J: James Best| T: Ella Pickard| OR: 107

7/1

Firmly back in form with cheekpieces fitted in recent months, belatedly adding to his maiden hurdle success back in January 2023 when proving ½-length too strong for Clararose at Warwick recently. 3 lb nudge fair enough and should give another good account.

Form: P-94231

Catuaba^b²⁷

Age: 6| Weight: 10-12| J: J J Burke| T: C E Longsdon| OR: 104| D

10/1

Confirmed return to form when winning 8-runner handicap hurdle at Stratford (26.4f, good) in July. Struggled next time but firmly back on track with a near-miss at Worcester last month, a race he should have won, and another bold show is on the cards.

Form: P-P2172

Prince De Juilley^p⁴⁸

Age: 7| Weight: 10-10| J: C Gethings| T: A Ralph| OR: 102

33/1

Knocking on the door before getting off the mark at Warwick in May but out of sorts in trio of starts since and he's passed over here.

Form: 2-2198P

Forecasts

Ballintubber Boy (3/1), Kitesurfer (9/2), Clararose (9/2), Fortified Fortune (5/1), Planet Legend (13/2), Stans The Man (7/1), Porter In The Park (15/2), Catuaba (10/1), Charles St (14/1), Edison Kent (18/1), Prince De Juilley (33/1)

Cases can be made for a good number of these with CATUABA topping the shortlist on the back of a close call at Worcester. The 6-y-o should've won that race and this 6 lb higher mark looks manageable. Planet Legend put in a good shift back from a break at the aforementioned course and he is second choice, albeit marginally as Clararose, who was just touched off by the re-opposing Stans The Man at Warwick, is also strongly considered. The unexposed Fortified Fortune is another key player.
