Won twice here last season, including this race off 5 lb lower for Roger Varian. However, not the easiest to assess for current yard at present.

Smart performer in France but proving hard to place, not least because he seems some way removed from his best at the minute, well beaten in the Ormonde Stakes at Chester (13.4f, good, 40/1) 106 days ago. Back in a handicap but risky.
Low-mileage sort who continued theme of steady progress last year, winning 5-runner Doncaster handicap (1¼m) prior to a good second at York (1¼m, soft) in October. Shaped well after 9 months off when sixth of 13 in handicap at Ascot (12f) 41 days ago, left poorly placed. Remains of interest.
Won twice on joining this yard as a 3-y-o, including an AW listed race in France. Ran well back in a handicap considering he'd been keener than ideal sixth of 15 in handicap at York (11.8f, good to firm) 15 months ago but off since.
Nottingham winner in a light 2023 campaign. Has shaped as if in better form than the bare result might suggest in 3 runs this year and of interest with conditions a plus.
Won a Glorious Goodwood handicap last summer and back to best on AW this summer, scoring over this trip at Kempton. Not so good at Ascot since but ground might have been too fast for him. Worth another chance.
Course winner. Latest win here in May. However, failed to beat a rival last 2 starts and headgear now applied.
Good record in the mud, successful on return in fillies' handicap at Doncaster in April. Not so good since but could bounce back with ground in her favour.
Scored at Chester in June. Also a creditable fifth at Newcastle later that month but has recorded 4 below-par efforts since.
Galileo colt who has looked good prospect when winning first 2 starts in novice events, latterly when defying a penalty at Yarmouth (11.5f). Well held in Group 2 at Royal Ascot since but still early days and starts life in handicaps off a workable mark. Headgear on.
Unreliable type. 7/2, ended long losing run in 10-runner handicap at Ayr (10f, good) 11 days ago, always holding on. Not an obvious one to follow up under a penalty.
Tends to give himself a lot to do with slow starts but he struck at the second time of asking for this yard over 1½m at Hamilton in May. Respectable sixth back there next time but needs to shrug off a poor run at Thirsk.
Fairly useful hurdles winner. Similar form on Flat, landing a gamble at Galway in August. Not in same form there following day but expected to bounce back.

Low-mileage 5-y-o LA YAKEL made an eye-catching return at Ascot 6 weeks ago and this progressive type remains of strong interest off his current mark. Theory of Tides is the only 3--y-o in the field and could well resume progress on handicap bow having found a Group 2 at Royal Ascot too tough, while Mr Alan is in better form than this season's figures suggest and will appreciate the softer ground.
