€310,000 foal, €580,000 yearling, Lope De Vega colt who failed to meet market expectations when seventh of 9 in maiden at Leicester (6f, soft, 8/11) on debut in May. Will surely have derived plenty from that and should take a significant step forward.

Promise when sixth of 8 in maiden at Windsor on debut but went backwards from that effort having left Richard Hannon (for 17,000 gns) when finishing well held over C&D (good) last week. Remains capable of better.

Forecasts

Beccali (13/8), Asuka (11/2), Reddeef (17/2), Night Storm (9/1), Beneath The Sea (11/1), Macedonian (12/1), Spirit Lead Me (14/1), Blue Anthem (14/1), Midnight City (16/1), Qetaifan (22/1), Wiesaam (25/1), Bueno Nacho (28/1), Quick Point (33/1), Dubai Lightning (66/1), Cosmic Force (80/1), Comedy Star (125/1)

Verdict

Those with experience don't set a tall standard to aim at but BECCALI, a €580,000 yearling representing powerful connections, will surely have derived plenty from his disappointing debut effort so he gets the tentative vote at the expense of Asuka, who is 1 of 3 for George Boughey. Night Storm, Qetaifan and Reddeef all have plenty going for them on paper and they're considered in a race where the market will no doubt prove informative.
