Strathmore Hotels Handicap Chase

Off time: 16:30 | Winning time: 6m 56.62s

Ilikedwayurthinkin^p²⁴

Age: 10| Weight: 11-12| J: R P McLernon| T: B Haslam| OR: 118| CD

5/4

Useful winning handicap hurdler/chaser in Ireland for Gavin Cromwell. Back to form last 2 starts for this yard, cashing in on much-reduced mark over C&D last month, well on top finish. 8 lb higher now but that may not be enough to prevent the follow up.

Form: 7P7-031

Wasdell Dundalk⁸

Age: 9| Weight: 11-11| J: Danny McMenamin| T: Miss L Harrison| OR: 117

9/1

Took advantage of reduced mark when completing a Perth hat-trick in August/September. Stripped fitter for his reappearance when good third at Perth last week and not taken lightly off same mark back down in class.

Form: 1229-73

No Regrets^v⁷⁵

Age: 10| Weight: 11-9| J: Sean Quinlan| T: N G Richards| OR: 115

16/1

Won pair of 3m handicap chases in first half of 2023 and left low-key reappearance effort well behind when adding to his tally in a first-time visor at Kelso (23.4f, good) in May, though needed a shade of fortune to seal it. 5 lb higher mark could prove problematic.

Form: 21327-1

Motion In Limine^b,t⁵¹

Age: 9| Weight: 11-6| J: Luke Scott⁽⁵⁾| T: Dr R Newland| OR: 112

9/1

Dual hurdles winner but mixed record over fences. However, ran well back from a break (had another breathing operation) when close second at Hexham 7 weeks ago. Needs to back that up now.

Form: 2P2PP-2

Elleon^p,t²⁴

Age: 9| Weight: 11-1| J: Jonathan England| T: S England| OR: 107

9/2

Still not the most of fluent of jumpers but has enjoyed a fine start to the season, landing back-to-back handicaps at Hexham. Excellent placed efforts both starts since, including when 7½ lengths third to Ilikedwayurthinkin over C&D latest, left poorly placed. 6 lb better off with winner here.

Form: 2-81133

Cardamon Hill^p¹⁸

Age: 7| Weight: 11-1| J: B S Hughes| T: Mrs Dianne Sayer| OR: 107

9/2

Confirmed the promise of his previous run here when capitalising on a lenient mark (and gain first chasing success) at Perth last month. Good second there since and should go well again.

Form: 037-612

Jelski^p²⁴

Age: 10| Weight: 11-1| J: Charlotte Jones⁽³⁾| T: James Moffatt| OR: 107| CD

11/1

Back-to-back winner here last summer off higher marks. Just the one respectable effort in a handful of runs since, however, well-beaten seventh of 11 to Ilikedwayurthinkin in handicap chase at this C&D (good) 24 days ago.

Form: 1166-37

Forecasts

Ilikedwayurthinkin (5/4), Elleon (9/2), Cardamon Hill (9/2), Happy Du Mesnil (9/2), Where's Bunny (13/2), Motion In Limine (9/1), Wasdell Dundalk (9/1), Jelski (11/1), No Regrets (16/1), Coqolino (25/1)

Plenty of these arrive in good form but ILIKEDWAYURTHINKIN confirmed the promise of his previous run when justifying strong support back over fences at this C&D last month and remains of strong interest now back on track (still thrown-in on pick of Irish form). Cardamon Hill and Happy du Mesnil head the dangers.
