Won twice in Ireland in 2023 and has kicked on again for his new yard, scoring 4 times on the all-weather early this year. Good efforts in defeat on his last 3 starts, third at Epsom (12f, good to soft) 25 days ago, so he's not dismissed lightly.
Ended lengthy losing run at Redcar (10f, soft) in May and unlucky not to finish closer on his last 2 starts, meeting trouble 3f out when fourth in female amateur riders event at York (11.8f, soft, 17/2) 11 days ago. Needs everything to drop right.
Racked up a 4-timer last summer for Tony Carroll and has been shaped up well for his current yard this season, denied a clear run from 2f out when fourth at Sandown (10f, good) 12 days ago. Can make his presence felt.
Successful twice in 2023 but has found one too good in all 3 starts this year, hanging badly right at Sandown (10f, good) on his latest outing. Could be thereabouts once more with cheekpieces now reached for.
Runner-up 5 times in 2022 when trained by Ivan Furtado and, after 20 months off, shaped as if retaining ability when mid-field at Wetherby (10f, good to firm) 23 days ago. A while since his last win but he's been edging back down in the weights at least.
Tried over hurdles on his last 2 starts, shaping better in reapplied cheekpieces when second in a Kelso novice (16.2f, good to soft) a month ago. Back on the level in first-time blinkers as he bids for a first victory since 2021.
Took advantage of his reduced mark at Ayr in September but hasn't gone on from that effort since, finishing well held in female amateur riders event at York (11.8f, soft, 17/2) on his latest outing. Others more persuasive.
Gained reward for his consistency when recording a first win of the season at Beverley (9.9f, good to firm) 18 days ago. This is tougher back up in grade but he can give another good account.
Won three of his 5 starts last season and returned with a good second at Musselburgh (12.5f, good to soft) in April. However, has run poorly on his last 2 outings so he needs to get back on track.
Confirmed the promise of his return when scoring at Catterick (13.9f, good to firm) early in the month, before running at least as well when third in female amateur riders event at York (11.8f, soft, 17/2) 11 days ago. Merits consideration.
With his reappearance run behind him, took a step forward when finding only a fellow improver too strong in handicap at Leicester (11.8f, good to soft) 22 days ago. The only 3-y-o in the line-up and he's a major player with further progress to come.
Proved at least as good as ever when scoring at Ayr (8f, good to soft) in September, his third course success of 2023. Placed at the same track on his first 2 starts this season, before facing a stiff task back there 4 days ago. Others preferred.

Sea The Thunder (2/1), Born Ruler (5/2), Gallant Lion (9/2), Asgard's Captain (9/1), Ludo's Landing (12/1), Gibside (16/1), Baryshnikov (25/1), Simple Star (25/1), Thundering (28/1), Desert Emperor (33/1), Ravenscraig Castle (33/1), Ayr Poet (40/1)
SEA THE THUNDER showed improved form when runner-up at Leicester on his latest outing, pulling well clear of the remainder, so he is taken to open his account with more still to offer on only his third handicap start. He can see off the challenge of Gallant Lion, who has been in good heart for Alan King this year, while Gibside could also be in the mix.
