Irish raider with an excellent record in Scotland. Career best when winning 7-runner handicap (15/2) at Hamilton (9.2f, good to firm) 14 days ago, holding on gamely. Back down markedly in trip but she went with plenty of zest on that occasion.

Promising individual with a perfect career record, improving another chunk when completing hat-trick in 10-runner handicap at Kempton (7f), well on top finish. Off 8 months but revised mark looks very lenient.

Relished step up to 7f when winning at Haydock in May and having been raised 3 lb, she didn't do a lot wrong when second of 18 in handicap at York (7f, good, 5/1) 22 days ago. Another bold bid looks very likely.

Lightly-raced 4-y-o who got off the mark on handicap debut at Haydock last summer. Creditable fourth of 13 in handicap at Beverley (7.4f, good to firm) 8 days ago but she needs to raise her game to trouble a couple of these.

Thriving on racing this year, recording win number 6 from 8 runs this year (all over 6f) in 8-runner handicap at Hamilton 18 days ago, just holding on. Up 3 lb in a deeper band of handicap but she demands respect in her current mood.

Musselburgh specialist who shaped quite well returned to that venue when fourth at the start of the month. Failed to build on that when fifth of 6 in handicap (17/2) at Haydock (6f, firm) 9 days ago.

Forecasts

Mezzo Soprano (6/4), Mereside Diva (11/4), Zapphire (13/2), Catherine Chroi (15/2), Fiver Friday (17/2), Rock Melody (10/1)

Verdict

MEZZO SOPRANO rewarded the patient approach of connections in spades during the second half of 2023, winning all 3 starts, and this well-bred filly rather stands out on profile ahead of this reappearance. Mereside Diva is more exposed but seems sure to give it a good go, as should the thriving Catherine Chroi.
