Latest win at Thirsk in April. Good short-head second of 8 in handicap at Hamilton (6f, soft, 16/1) 18 days ago, finishing well. Merits consideration.

Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 7/2, fifth of 6 in handicap at Ayr (6f, good) 33 days ago, soon off bridle after again missing break. Very well treated on best form but hard to have faith in at present.

Second at Newcastle in March but has ran below form last 2 starts, most recently when fifth of 8 in handicap at Hamilton (6f, soft) 18 days ago. Others make greater appeal.

Latest win at Lingfield in March. 9/1, sixth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 11 days ago, racing too freely. Edging back down the weights but others are more convincing on recent efforts.

Bounced back to best to resume winning ways in 9-runner handicap (7/1) at Ayr (7.2f, good) on return but never involved at Catterick last time. Still low mileage on turf and could bounce back.

Has slipped long way in weights but caught eye when eighth at Catterick (7f, soft) on penultimate outing. Failed to build on that effort when down the field at Carlisle since. Back up in trip.

Not the easiest of rides but ran well when second at Yarmouth on comeback. Failed to beat a rival in first-time hood at Nottingham a fortnight ago though, so others preferred.

Fourteen runs since his sole win but has reached the frame all 4 starts this year, 1¾ lengths fourth of 10 at Carlisle (6.9f, good to soft, 11/4) 16 days ago. Likely to be involved once more.

Nineteen runs since last win in 2021. Out of form at Meydan over the winter and fared no better back on these shores when last of 11 at Kempton last month. Hard to fancy.

Forecasts

Buckshaw Village (7/2), Lahab (6/1), Cue's Beau (13/2), Cold Stare (13/2), King Of Fury (7/1), Epic Express (7/1), Algheed (7/1), Manigordo (10/1), Ayr Harbour (11/1), Snazzy Jazzy (12/1)

Verdict

COLD STARE only just failed to reel in a thriving rival at Hamilton last time and a repeat of that performance should be enough to see him go one better. Buckshaw Village has held his form admirably well this season and should be in the mix again, whilst Cue's Beau would also be a leading player if bouncing back from last month's Catterick disappointment.
