5/2

Well-relaated sort produced a promising debut effort when runner-up in a Newbury maiden (7f) last summer and got back on track after a lesser effort when a clear second in a Southwell minor event (7.1f, 10/3) in November. Off since and opening mark takes no chances, but type to do better this year.

Ziggy's Phoenix^p¹⁴

Age: 3| Weight: 9-9| J: S M Levey| T: R Hannon| OR: 78| D

17/2

Caused a 66/1 surprise when winning 13-runner handicap at Newmarket (8f, good to firm) in May, albeit advatanged by the his track position that day. Not in same form when fourth at Lingfield last time and others are more persuasive.

Form: 60-4914

Lokana²³

Age: 3| Weight: 9-8| J: D Tudhope| T: D O'Meara| OR: 77

15/2

Put her experience to good use to get off the mark after 8 months off in 10-runner maiden at Thirsk (7f, soft) in May and wasn't disgraced switched to a handicap when third at Catterick (7f, soft) later in the month. Bit more needed from unchanged mark here.

Get Jiggy With It¹³

Age: 3| Weight: 9-7| J: W Buick| T: C Hills| OR: 76| BF

9/2

Has found one too good on 5 of her 7 starts, including when runner-up in a 12-runner Nottingham maiden (8.3f, good) 13 days ago. Hard to crab her attitude so far and opening mark appeals as fair, so she's not discounted now handicapping.

Form: 327-222

Asteverdi⁴²

Age: 3| Weight: 9-6| J: Tom Marquand| T: Alice Haynes| OR: 75

6/1

Landed short odds at Musselburgh on her third start last season. Good second at Thirsk on return but disappointing when seventh of 9 in handicap (5/1) at Yarmouth (8f, good to soft last month. Bit more needed.

Imperial Express¹⁷

Age: 3| Weight: 9-5| J: Oisin Murphy| T: A M Balding| OR: 74

9/1

Placed twice at 2 yrs but failed to make an impression from a stiff-looking opening mark at Kempton (7f) 17 days ago. Difficult to recommend.

Form: 6393-65

Royal Velvet⁸

Age: 3| Weight: 9-2| J: N Callan| T: W J Knight| OR: 71| BF

4/1

Confirmed debut promise when scoring at Wolverhampton in December and followed up after a 4-month break in a Newcastle handicap in April. Back to form when fifth of 10 in handicap (15/8) at Goodwood (7f, good) 8 days ago and holds sound place claims.

Form: 61-175

Forecasts

Hot Fashion (5/2), Get The Music On (7/2), Royal Velvet (4/1), Get Jiggy With It (9/2), Asteverdi (6/1), Lokana (15/2), Ziggy's Phoenix (17/2), Imperial Express (9/1)

GET THE MUSIC ON was unlcuky not to reel-in a rival who benefited from first run at Kempton last week and Clive Cox's filly can go one better here. Get Jiggy With It has proved consistent in maiden/novice company and steps into handicaps from a workable mark, so can get in the mix again, with Royal Velvet completing the shortlist.
