Marrill Group Pressing To Win Handicap Chase

Took a step forward when making a successful reappearance in a handicap hurdle at Kelso (22.7f, heavy) in November. However, he has failed to fire in 2 subsequent starts and needs to get back on track now switched to fences.

Surprise winner of 19f Catterick novice hurdle on New Year's Day and left the form of first 2 chase starts well behind when runner-up over C&D (good to soft) recently. However, he's gone up 3 lb and, moreover, it remains to be seen if he'll build on that. Cheekpieces applied.

More miss than hit since C&D success in June 2022 but his mark continues on the slide and there were positives to glean from his latest fifth in the 13-runner handicap won by The White Volcano. Entitled to come on for that run (was returning from a 4-month break) and he's a big player.

Dual hurdles winner in Ireland back in 2019 and finally came good for this yard/over fences when scoring in good style over this C&D last month. Has to be feared on the back of that but more will certainly be needed off this 10 lb higher mark.

All 6 career wins have been registered at this course and he was in good nick earlier this, finishing runner-up 3 times on the bounce (including twice over this C&D). However, he failed to fire in the race won by The White Volcano last time and remains 9 lb above his last winning mark.

Four-time winner between the flags but he's 0-20 under Rules and hopes now pinned on the change of scenery (makes debut for new yard) and new headgear (first-time visor) sparking improvement.

Made frame both starts in Irish points but no impact in 5 runs over hurdles and needs to turn things round now sent chasing following a wind op.
