Jumping For Fun 'Restricted Point-To-Point' Novices' Hunters' Chase

Off time: 18:05 | Winning time: 5m 43.73s

Castle Daragh^p³⁵

Age: 7| Weight: 12-1| J: Mr Conal Kavanagh⁽⁷⁾| T: D Pipe

15/2

Winning pointer who sprung a surprise when making a successful hunter debut at Chepstow last month, staying on well. Jumped well on that occasion so has to command serious respect, even under 3 lb penalty.

Form: 1/PP221-

Caballo Diablo⁵

Age: 8| Weight: 11-12| J: Mr Paddy Barlow⁽⁵⁾| T: J R Barlow

22/1

Has won between the flags but offered precious little starting out in this sphere when fifth of 6 at Fakenham in May 2023. Pulled up in a recent point.

Form: 51P2-1P

Jay Bee Whiskey⁶⁰

Age: 9| Weight: 11-12| J: Mr James King| T: F Brennan

6/1

Dam unraced half-sister to fair hurdler/fairly useful chaser (stayed 2½m) Great Oak. Multiple point winner, runner-up in pursuit of 6-timer last time (Apr 1). Fascinating Rules debutant.

Form: 111112-

Learntalot⁵⁴

Age: 8| Weight: 11-12| J: Mrs Izzie Hill⁽⁵⁾| T: A Hill| OR: 108

9/1

Fair maiden hurdler for Olly Murphy, third in handicap company when last seen under Rules in March 2023. Winning pointer for new connections, runner-up in April ahead of this hunter debut.

Form: 3/12332-

Mount Pleasant^h1¹²

Age: 7| Weight: 11-12| J: Alex Chadwick| T: N R Wright

12/1

Limited impact in a trio of Rules starts for Nicky Henderson, latest of them in May 2022. Enjoyed plenty of success in points, winning last 2 starts.

Form: 51131-1

Padjoes Legacy^p²⁸

Age: 8| Weight: 11-12| J: Miss Gina Andrews| T: N Padfield

4/1

Multiple-point winner who seemed to excel himself when third of 9 in cheekpieces on hunter debut at Cheltenham 4 weeks ago. Did look quite hard work so drop in trip may not be ideal.

Form: 2PU11-3

Red Nika^p,t1³⁵

Age: 9| Weight: 11-12| J: Mr Sean P O'Connor⁽⁵⁾| T: T Lacey| OR: 111

7/4

Wasn't far off the pick of his Rules form when fourth of 11 to Castle Daragh on hunter debut last month. 3 lb better off with that rival and he can make his presence felt.

Form: 325/124-

Well P¹²

Age: 7| Weight: 11-12| J: Miss Ellie Callwood⁽⁷⁾| T: Miss D Ball

8/1

Limited impact in Irish bumpers earlier in his career but arrives in good heart, winning last 2 points.

Form: PU22-11

Forecasts

Red Nika (7/4), Padjoes Legacy (4/1), Jay Bee Whiskey (6/1), Castle Daragh (15/2), Well P (8/1), Learntalot (9/1), Mount Pleasant (12/1), Caballo Diablo (22/1)

JAY BEE WHISKEY clearly possesses his share of ability in points, racking up a 5-timer, and providing his jumping holds up tackling regulation fences for the first time, he could be the answer. Castle Daragh and Red Nika finished first and fourth respectively at Chepstow recently and both command respect.
