Nicholsons Centenary Novices' Hurdle (GBB Race)

Off time: 13:59 | Winning time: 4m 12.01s

Ittack Blue¹³

Age: 6| Weight: 11-9| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR: 114| CD

1/12

310,000 gns purchase after winning a point in Ireland. Hasn't stood much racing but in top hands and well prepared to land the odds on reappearance over C&D a fortnight ago. Obvious claims if this doesn't come too quick.

Form: 124/5-1

Glen Road¹⁹

Age: 5| Weight: 11-2| J: Nick Scholfield| T: J Parkinson & S Smith

40/1

Well held in 2 bumpers and pulled up on hurdles debut.

Form: 98-P

Happy County⁹⁴

Age: 7| Weight: 11-2| J: Bruce Lynn⁽³⁾| T: S G West

33/1

Looks very limited on early evidence.

Form: 6/PP-

Independent Jimmy²⁹

Age: 5| Weight: 11-2| J: Theo Gillard| T: D McCain Jnr

9/1

Related to winners over obstacles but looked green in bumpers. Bit more like it when mid-field on hurdles debut at Uttoxeter but likely needs more time.

Form: 857-

Strip Light¹⁹⁶

Age: 7| Weight: 11-2| J: Emma Smith-Chaston⁽³⁾| T: Paula Smith

125/1

No show both starts in this sphere in 2020 and, having offered little in a handful of appearances on the Flat last year, he predictably showed nothing back hurdling for new yard in November.

Form: 8P/0-

Upfordebate¹⁰⁸

Age: 5| Weight: 11-2| J: Henry Brooke| T: P Neville

14/1

Showed a bit on bumper debut in January but not in the same form a month later. Hurdles debut.

Form: 40-

Forecasts

Ittack Blue (1/12), Reach For The Moon (6/4), Independent Jimmy (9/1), Kopa Kilana (10/1), Upfordebate (14/1), Happy County (33/1), Glen Road (40/1), Strip Light (125/1)

ITTACK BLUE jumped fluently when outclassing the opposition over C&D a fortnight ago, and in the hope this doesn't come too soon (very lightly raced) he's fancied to follow up. Reach For The Moon failed to meet expectations on hurdles debut but given his Flat form, he'll surely do better this time and is the obvious threat.
