14/1

Much improved when making second start a winning one at Newcastle. Second of 4 in handicap at Southwell (11.1f, 2/1). Off 136 days (gelded since) and no reason why he won't be as effective on turf.

Form: 415-2

Caprelo³³

4/1

Left 2-y-o form trailing in his wake when winning 8-runner handicap (11/4) at Kempton (11f) 33 days ago, cosily. Shortlist material up 5 lb with promise of much more to come on turf.

Form: 695-1

(7)

Lucentio^p,t¹⁴

Age: 3| Weight: 9-6| J: K Shoemark| T: J & T Gosden| OR: 72| CD

6/1

Cheekpieces on for first time and produced a career best when winning 5-runner handicap at this C&D (heavy) 14 days ago. Well placed on that occasion but he still needs considering for his top yard.

Form: 49-651

(6)

Malinka³⁷

Age: 3| Weight: 9-3| J: Rossa Ryan| T: R M Beckett| OR: 69

9/1

Thrice-raced maiden. 10/1, sixth of 11 in novice event at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 37 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Significantly up in trip for handicap debut and that's sure to suit.

Form: 73-6

Forecasts

Alacrity (6/4), Caprelo (4/1), Lucentio (6/1), Rakki (7/1), Malinka (9/1), I Love Paris (11/1), Freds Mate (14/1)

This looks a fair 3-y-o handicap for the grade but it's still hard to escape the claims of CAPRELO, who was much improved when successful at Kempton a month ago and his revised mark looks lenient. Lucentio landed a C&D handicap a fortnight ago so commands respect, with Malinka a likely improver tackling a more suitable trip.
