Bumper winner who benefited from more positive ride when scoring easily in novice hurdle at Market Rasen (20.6f) in March. Shaped well back in a handicap when finding a subsequent next-time-out winner too good at Warwick (19f, good) last month so holds leading claims under a penalty.

Got off the mark in Irish points at third attempt in January and left hurdling debut form well behind after 10 weeks off when fourth of 13 in novice at Taunton (19f, good, 80/1) 19 days ago. Could well take another step forward.

Poor maiden hurdler who was possibly flattered when fifth of 8 back in a maiden at Exeter (21.6f, heavy) in March. Readily passed over.

Left bumper form behind when runner-up in Huntingdon maiden on hurdles debut in March and matched that form when filling the same spot there (15.8f, good) 18 days ago, pulling clear of the rest. Bred to stay longer trips so fancied to be in the shake-up.

Fairly useful on Flat (stays 1½m), often held back by attitude but successful in seller last August for William Haggas. Showed a bit of aptitude for hurdling when fourth of 8 in maiden at Plumpton (15.9f, good) last month and he may build on that.

Pulled up in a juvenile hurdle at the end of 2023. Did win on AW Flat for Gary Brown in January but well held since joining this yard, including on both recent hurdle outings. Headgear left off and he's impossible to fancy.

Order of St George filly who was fitted in a hood for her debut and shaped as if needing plenty time in novice at Southwell (20.4f, good) just under 3 weeks ago. One for later on.

Forecasts

Pyffo (1/4), Locken Lady (11/2), Backinaction (10/1), Catch Catchfire (16/1), Ramensky (18/1), Wellwillya (50/1), Georgia's Cross (100/1), Sullivan Bay (100/1)

Verdict

It's hard to look beyond PYFFO, who opened his account over hurdles at Market Rasen in March and found only a subsequent winner too strong at Warwick last month. He can regain the winning thread at the expense of Backinaction, who left his hurdling debut form well behind when fourth at Taunton recently and could well take another step forward. Locken Lady, who has finished runner-up twice in this sphere already, completes the shortlist.
