6/4

Fairly useful ex-French winning hurdler/chaser who bounced back from a couple of fairly heavy defeats when accounting for 3 rivals at Taunton (23f, soft) last month. 4 lb rise looks manageable and he's clearly a big player.

Has dipped to an attractive mark, now 6 lb below that off which he opened his chase account at Carlisle in November 2022. However, he hasn't really threatened since and well held both starts so far this season.

Successful in this sphere and over hurdles in autumn 2022. Ended last season with a respectable enough effort at Wincanton but he was beating a retreat when unseating 2 out back from a 13-month absence at Sandown. Opposable.

Mortens Leam¹¹

Age: 12| Weight: 10-8| J: Harry Reed| T: M Hawker| OR: 100

85/40

Healthy strike rate over fences and though lightly-raced (and generally below par) since landing a Kempton handicap chase in April 2021, he proved that ability remains when a clear second at Taunton (23f, heavy) recently. Remains on a potentially very handy mark up 3 lb.

Forecasts

Enjoy Your Life (6/4), Mortens Leam (85/40), Morning Spirit (11/4), Foillan (8/1), Champagne Court (17/2)

MORTENS LEAM remains 12 lb below his last winning mark following a 3 lb nudge for his back-to-form second at Taunton where he pulled a long way clear of the third. The 12-y-o clearly retains a fair level of ability judged on that effort and he is an appealing alternative to Enjoy Your Life, who got back on track last month and is greatly respected. Morning Spirit's record stands at 1-14 over fences and he will need to return to his best in order to trouble the aforementioned rivals.
