Jersay Du Trottet^p,t²⁹

Age: 5| Weight: 12-0| J: Sean Quinlan| T: J Candlish| OR: 100

5/1

9/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, excellent fourth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Wetherby (19.7f, heavy) 16 days ago. Well treated on his French form, so worthy of consideration on chasing bow.

Form: 33P-474

Big Bee Hive^t¹⁶

Age: 7| Weight: 11-9| J: Jonathan England| T: S England| OR: 91| C

6/4

Promising sort. 11/4, career best when winning 9-runner handicap chase at this course (19.3f, heavy) on debut over fences 16 days ago, driven clear. More to come in this sphere and looks the one to beat.

Form: VP-P531

Heeztheboy⁴²

Age: 7| Weight: 11-8| J: Craig Nichol| T: Miss P Robson| OR: 90

5/1

Offered little in a bumper/over hurdles but having attracted support, proved a different proposition sent chasing despite being 9 lb out of the weights when scoring at Hexham on return. Going well when falling 2 out at Sedgefield since and remains of interest.

Form: 096-61F

Ceolwulf⁴⁸⁹

Age: 8| Weight: 11-8| J: Nathan Moscrop| T: Fionn McSharry| OR: 90

16/1

Fair bumper performer who showed a bit more when fourth in handicap at Kelso on chasing debut 16 months ago. Concern that he's not been seen since, though.

Form: 323/864-

Son Of Aliciaslady⁵²¹

Age: 8| Weight: 11-5| J: Theo Gillard| T: D McCain Jnr| OR: 87

40/1

Irish point winner who hasn't shown much under Rules so far but steps up in trip for this first go at chasing/handicapping. Worth a market check back from 17 months off.

Form: 31/4247-

Largy Train^p³⁰

Age: 7| Weight: 11-5| J: Danny McMenamin| T: H Hogarth| OR: 87

16/1

Made a winning debut in bumper for Stuart Crawford in May 2021 but was pulled up on 4 of his 5 starts over hurdles and yet to fire over fences.

Form: P-P3P56

Royle Steel⁴²

Age: 6| Weight: 11-3| J: B S Hughes| T: Micky Hammond| OR: 85| C

6/1

Fair 2m winner over hurdles who got off the mark in this sphere in a weak contest at this track in October. Below that form both subsequent starts and others are more appealing.

Form: 553194

Great Raffles²⁰

Age: 8| Weight: 10-7| J: Emma Smith-Chaston⁽³⁾| T: Micky Hammond| OR: 75| C

15/2

Recorded back-to-back wins over hurdles (including at this course) to end 2021/22 and made the frame in all 4 outings last term. Disappointing so far over fences, though.

Form: 344-453

Forecasts

Big Bee Hive (6/4), Heeztheboy (5/1), Jersay Du Trottet (5/1), Royle Steel (6/1), Great Raffles (15/2), Largy Train (16/1), Ceolwulf (16/1), Son Of Aliciaslady (40/1)

BIG BEE HIVE justified support with an improved showing to make a winning chasing debut at this course last time and, with more to come, he's narrowly preferred to Heeztheboy, who has also made a promising start in this sphere. Jersay du Trottet is the pick of the remainder.
