Twice a winner over hurdles this season but good run of form came to a halt at Ascot last month. Didn't take to fences last season so bit to prove back in this sphere.

In the process of running well when departing 4 out at Wincanton last week, travelling best at the time. Needs considering off same mark.

Improved model in handicap hurdles in 2021/22, recording victories at Lingfield (23f) and Wetherby (24.1f). Bred to make at least as good a chaser and shaped encouragingly sent chasing after 20 months off when fourth over C&D 9 weeks ago. Can build on that.

Sole success came in Wetherby handicap chase (24.2f) early in 2022 but he did show the benefit of his reappearance run over hurdles when second over fences at Doncaster (26f). Failed to build on that next time, though.

Placed in Irish points and has proved a different proposition sent chasing, landing handicaps at Bangor (24f) and Fontwell (26f). Set a lot to do when fifth at Newton Abbot next time before shaping as if amiss (reported to have made a respiratory noise) on return. Has since had wind operation.

Sloppy jumper but often gives his running and wasn't discredited over C&D last month. Place claims.

Convincing winner over hurdles at Bangor in March and bettered previous efforts over fences when runner-up at Wincanton (15.7f, soft) in October. Excuses back over hurdles next time.

Belatedly opened his account when scoring from the front in handicap here (21.7f) on final start of last season. Good second at Fakenham on return but well held both starts since. Hard to rely on.

Forecasts

Rebel Intentions (3/1), Moytier (6/1), Furkash (8/1), Dindin (8/1), Doctor Foley (8/1), Gingerbred (8/1), Bring The Action (10/1), Barrowmount (10/1), William Ewart (12/1), Malinas Island (14/1), Idilico (25/1), School For Scandal (25/1), Etincelle Artiste (25/1)

Verdict

MOYTIER possibly would have taken some catching had he not departed 4 out at Wincanton last week and can make amends off the same mark. Malinas Island shaped well on his belated comeback/chase debut over C&D in November and should build on that, while Doctor Foley could get back on track after a breathing operation.
