Southwell Racecourse Supporting Racing Staff Week Handicap Hurdle

Off time: 15:55 | Winning time: 6m 44.63s

Duke Of Moravia⁵¹

Age: 6| Weight: 12-0| J: R Patrick| T: H D Daly| OR: 97| BF

8/1

Reached the frame all 4 hurdles starts last season but yet to fire in either outing this term and looks opposable again, still to convince he wants this much of a stamina test.

Form: 3433-5P

Catch Him Derry³³

Age: 6| Weight: 11-13| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR: 96

3/1

Considerately handled when making the placings in a pair of 16.7f novice events at Bangor in December and he rates as a likely improver now handicapping over a longer trip.

Form: 633

Camilla's Choice¹⁴²

Age: 8| Weight: 11-12| J: Harry Bannister| T: G Hanmer| OR: 95| D

50/1

Surpassed pick of her Irish form when making second start for this yard a winning one at Bangor (23f, good) in August. Well beaten at Cartmel later that month, and others are preferred having her first outing since the summer.

Form: 432610

City Roller^v1⁶⁴

Age: 6| Weight: 11-12| J: Alex Edwards| T: L Horsfall| OR: 95

33/1

Placed in a Newcastle novice hurdle in February but has shown very little since, not coping well with the switch to fences at Huntingdon on return. Hard to fancy with visor applied.

Form: P53P4-P

Private Pike²¹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-11| J: James Turner⁽⁷⁾| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR: 94

10/1

Showed a bit in trio of qualifying runs this season, most recently when eighth of 14 in novice hurdle at Chepstow (19.4f, soft) 21 days ago. Opening mark requires improvement but that rates as a distinct possibility now handicapping.

Form: S-308

Samourai One^p²²

Age: 7| Weight: 11-6| J: Bryony Le Clerc| T: L Wadham| OR: 89

6/1

Placed on 2 of his 3 starts in bumpers. Still lightly raced over hurdles, hard to judge him too harshly on the form of his recent handicap debut fifth at Wetherby (19.7f, heavy) 22 days ago, left poorly placed after being badly hampered. More needed still, however.

Form: 36/7-755

Hobb's Delight²²

Age: 8| Weight: 11-3| J: Harry Cobden| T: N P Mulholland| OR: 86

10/3

Improved when dead-heating on Fontwell handicap debut (19f, soft) last month. Just 3 lb higher now and is one for the shortlist, with this greater test of stamina likely to suit.

Form: 4/5-301

General Hubble^p⁶²

Age: 6| Weight: 11-0| J: C Gethings| T: K Bailey & M Nicholls| OR: 83

5/1

Much improved since sent handicapping in cheekpieces and he got off the mark at Market Rasen (23f) in November, despite making some mistakes. Up 3 lb but he can do better still.

Form: 5904-1

Tiny Tantrum^p²⁹

Age: 8| Weight: 10-13| J: J M Quinlan| T: M Murphy & M Keady| OR: 82

20/1

Captalised on a falling mark to land 2¾m Stratford handicap hurdle (heavy) in April and shaped as if as good as ever when fourth at Fakenham on last month's return. Evidently finished very tired there, but wouldn't be out of it if over those exertions.

Form: 54561-4

Bobbie The Dazzler⁶⁴⁹

Age: 10| Weight: 10-11| J: Bruce Lynn⁽³⁾| T: S G West| OR: 80

66/1

Made a winning start for this yard at Sedgefield in March 2022 and ran creditably to make the frame there the following month. Absent since and watching brief advised.

Form: 542714/

Loch Garman Aris^p⁷⁰

Age: 14| Weight: 10-7| J: Tabitha Worsley⁽³⁾| T: G Hanmer| OR: 76| D

25/1

Dual scorer over fences at Bangor in May 2021 and retains a bit of ability in the twilight of his career, finishing runner-up in big-field handicap at Uttoxeter (23.3f, soft) in May. Hard to be overly positive about return at Warwick, though, and others make greater appeal.

Form: P56-426

Oliver's Island^b,t¹⁶

Age: 12| Weight: 10-2| J: Edward Austin⁽⁵⁾| T: J Bedi| OR: 69| CD

14/1

Scored over C&D in 2020 and ran better than for a while when third of 7 in handicap hurdle (4/1) at Catterick (25.3f, heavy) 16 days ago. Racing from out of the weights but capable of giving good account with posing serious threat to the principals.

Form: 159-853

Forecasts

Tune In A Box (11/4), Catch Him Derry (3/1), Hobb's Delight (10/3), General Hubble (5/1), Samourai One (6/1), Duke Of Moravia (8/1), Private Pike (10/1), Oliver's Island (14/1), Tiny Tantrum (20/1), Loch Garman Aris (25/1), Reine Fee (25/1), City Roller (33/1), Camilla's Choice (50/1), Bobbie The Dazzler (66/1)

TUNE IN A BOX took a significant step forward switched to handicap company last time and is fancied to build on that impressive success from a 9 lb higher mark. General Hubble was able to overcome a mixed round of jumping to score at Market Rasen and rates a serious threat, with handicap newcomer Catch Him Derry and Fontwell dead-heater Hobb's Delight also players in a competitive contest.
