BetGoodwin Sussex National Handicap Chase

Dual chase winner in the summer and better than ever when enhancing his good strike rate at Sedgefield (Durham National) and Fontwell (Southern National) last 2 starts. Smashing stayer but 5 lb rise for latest win looks on the harsh side.

Hurdles/chase winner who ended last season with a brace of placed efforts in long distance chases at Taunton/Ffos Las. Underwhelming reappearance at Haydock and failed to complete both starts since. Others preferred.

Fairly useful hurdler/chaser who can boast a good strike rate and wasn't beaten far in a listed chase at Newbury last time. Not discounted.

Useful chaser in France for David Cottin but he has offered little so far for this yard, including back hurdling on Newbury reappearance 37 days ago. Plenty to prove.

Bagged handicap chases at Fontwell and Newbury last season and back to form with a bang when producing a career-best win at Exeter (30.7f, heavy) last month, suited by the step up to a marathon trip. 5 lb rise seems fair and shortlist material.

Held form well over hurdles despite proving expensive to follow during a busy 2022/23 schedule. Left chase debut form behind as he proved himself better in this sphere than over hurdles when winning 7-runner handicap chase at Chepstow (23.6f, heavy, 6/1) 29 days ago and promises to stay this far.

Got off the mark over fences at Stratford in April and caught the eye after 6 months off when a running-on fourth at Plumpton (25.7f, good to soft). Decent sixth in much better race at Cheltenham soon after and player back down in class with cheekpieces back on.

Three-time chase winner last season who built on return when mid-field in Cheltenham handicap. Can build on that again but heavy ground would be a concern.

Landed back-to-back handicaps here (25.7f) in March and all the better for reappearance run over hurdles when resuming winning ways at Fakenham (29.1f, heavy) 19 days ago by 14 lengths from Eceparti, avoiding the churned-up ground by steering a very wide course. More needed up 6 lb in better race.

Took advantage of a career-low mark in emphatic style when making a winning return at Chepstow (26.3f) in October. Followed up under a penalty at the same course (23.6f, heavy) 8 days later but a further 8 lb rise prevented the hat-trick at Fakenham.
