Three-time hurdles winner for Charles Byrnes and didn't need to improve to get off the mark over fences at Downpatrick on final start for that yard in August. Positive start for this stable when second at Doncaster (3m, good to soft) back from a break 3 weeks ago and strong claims off the same mark.
Promising novice hurdler for Paul Nicholls in 2021 and showed an aptitude for chasing on return from a lengthy absence in first-time cheekpieces (discarded here) at Aintree last month. Hard to be sure quite how much ability he actually retains but this run should be more revealing.
Successful sole start on the Flat and duly landed the odds on second start in this sphere at Ayr (2m, soft) last February. No show in better company both subsequent starts but this is a realistic starting point for the switch to fences and he has to enter calculations.
Bagged a 3m handicap hurdle at Clonmel on debut for this yard in October 2022 but hasn't come close to matching that form since, including in his 5 attempts over fences. Now tried in blinkers.
Convincing hurdles winner in a refitted tongue strap at Perth last June (final start for Keith Dalgleish) and shaped well when third on chase debut at Wetherby (15f, good) in October. Would be a serious player if able to build on that but needs to shrug off a low-key subsequent display at Doncaster.
Fairly useful bumper/hurdles winner for Michael Scudamore and made a promising start over fences when runner-up at Ayr (20.5f, good) in November. It was a stronger race than this in which she was safely held at Cheltenham since and it wouldn't be much of a surprise were she to get back on track.

Forecasts
Jackpot De Choisel (13/8), Grozni (2/1), I Am Gonna Be (5/1), Garde Des Champs (17/2), Pozo Emery (12/1), Robinstown (16/1)
GROZNI made an encouraging start for his new connections when finding just one too strong under Alex Chadwick at Doncaster. This drop back in trip is unlikely to be an issue and he is appealing off the same mark here. I Am Gonna Be, who looks the pick of the Lucinda Russell-trained duo, is feared most ahead of Irish-raider Jackpot de Choisel.
