Winning hurdler who is proving expensive to follow in this sphere. Going through motions of late but becoming well handicapped at least.

Disappointed over hurdles earlier this year and no upturn since returned to chasing, again finishing well held at Ayr (20.5f) 45 days ago. Mark continues to fall but he's hard to warm to at present.

Losing run stretches back to November 2018 but went close off reduced mark back over fences at Doncaster after 12 months off 32 days ago. Should go well again up only 2 lb.

Made a cracking start over fences, value for extra when winning Hexham handicap in May. Did too much too soon after upping the pace mid-race at Newcastle 10 days later (good, 6/4). Often travels strongly so drop back in trip no big concern ahead of return.

Responded well to cheekpieces when opening his account in 9-runner handicap chase at Kelso (17.1f, heavy), albeit shaping third best on the day, and only fifth off revised mark at Doncaster since.

Ungenuine (has thrown away races in latter stages more than once). Belatedly off the mark at Wetherby (15f) in March, idling markedly flat and only just holding on. Similar form since, though typically proved a horror when asked for maximum effort when third at Sedgefield 3 weeks ago.

Three-time winner over fences but was out of form in the summer and fared little better for new yard last month.

Successful twice at Musselburgh last winter and posted good placed efforts in pair of Hexham handicaps (at up to 20f) this summer. Well held both starts after 5 months off, however.

Forecasts

Dr Sanderson (5/2), Beat The Edge (9/2), Fearless Action (5/1), Trapista (5/1), Fanfan Du Seuil (13/2), Rocco Storm (8/1), Gouet Des Bruyeres (12/1), Ribeye (14/1), Budarri (25/1), Money For Jam (28/1)

Verdict

FANFAN DU SEUIL is nothing like the force of old but his reduced mark reflects that and he looks ready to end his losing run judged on his close second at Doncaster on his belated return last month. Ribeye has taken well to fences and is an interesting runner back down in trip after 7 months off, while Rocco Storm can be expected to bounce back returned to this sphere.
