Bumper winner who opened account over hurdles at Kelso in April 2022. Placed all 3 starts following a wind op in second half of last season, and picked up where he left off in the spring when holding on gamely at Carlisle (2m, soft) in October. Up just 3 lb and leading claims.
Best effort over hurdles when fourth at Southwell on his handicap bow in April and matched that form on his chase debut when filling the same position at Chepstow (23.6f, heavy) in November. Not so good next time but will be a threat if on-song and assuming he copes with this drop back in trip.
Decisive C&D winner off a 6 lb higher mark last November. Largely laboured performances since but perhaps the change of scenery (debut for new yard) will have perked him up and he's very dangerous to discount given that he's won all 4 completed starts at Hexham.
Shaped best on his second chase start when going close over C&D in October, looking in control until 13-month absence told near finish. Pulled up at Kelso next time, though, then well held when falling at the last upped to 23.4f at Newcastle.
All 6 career wins have been gained here, including back-to-back C&D victories during the spring. Respectable efforts both starts this season, beaten 3 lengths when fourth to Travail d'Orfevre at Carlisle last time, and likely to get closer to that rival on 4 lb better terms back here.
Hasn't offered a great deal in a bumper/over hurdles to date and 9 lb wrong at the weights for this chase debut.

Forecasts
Cudgel (3/1), Doyouknowwhatimean (10/3), Travail D'Orfevre (7/2), Heeztheboy (4/1), Augharue (6/1), Treshnish (11/1)
TRAVAIL D'ORFEVRE took a step forward when scoring at Carlisle and, with his yard among the winners and further progress not out of the question, he is taken to follow up. He's up against two course specialists in Cudgel and Treshnish, mind, with the former, who was fourth behind the selection at Carlisle and now 4 lb better off for a three-length beating, feared most. Doyouknowwhatimean arguably possesses the greatest potential of these but this drop back in trip is of dubious benefit.
