Joe Atkinson Celebrating Happy Retirement Day Handicap Hurdle

Off time: 16:16 | Winning time: 5m 46.57s

Bonheur De Ballon^t³¹³

Age: 4| Weight: 11-12| J: Jack Tudor| T: D Pipe| OR: 115WS

22/1

Ex-French recruit who showed fair form when landing claimer at Angouleme (18.9f) 11 months ago. Below best final start in December and the betting should prove a useful guide on yard/handicap debut following a wind op.

Form: 6P15-

Individualiste⁵⁹⁷

Age: 5| Weight: 11-10| J: Harry Cobden| T: P F Nicholls| OR: 111

15/2

Fair on the Flat in France and he got off the mark in good style for new yard in novice hurdle at Taunton (19f, heavy) 19 months. Off since but yard is going well so he can't be taken lightly on his handicap debut.

Form: 51/

Hasty Parisian^p¹²⁶

Age: 5| Weight: 11-7| J: Bradley Harris⁽⁵⁾| T: M F Harris| OR: 108| BF

4/1

Consistent sort who again ran with credit when second of 7 in handicap hurdle at Hexham (23f) in June. Should continue to be thereabouts

Form: 3343-32

Balkardy⁴⁵³

Age: 6| Weight: 11-5| J: Isabel Williams⁽³⁾| T: Evan Williams| OR: 106| D

10/1

In excellent form over fences when last seen out in the summer of 2022, scoring three times around 2m4f. Back from 15 months off now over hurdles and the market should prove a good guide.

Form: 31/1123-

Wonderful Eagle^p²⁹

Age: 4| Weight: 11-5| J: M G Nolan| T: P Hobbs & J White| OR: 108| CD

15/8

Fairly useful 1m2f scorer on Flat for Henk Grewe in Germany. Overcame inexperience to make a winning hurdling debut here and followed up over C&D last month in first-time cheekpieces. Has more to offer now handicapping off a lenient opening mark. Big shout.

Form: 11

Platinumcard^t⁸

Age: 8| Weight: 11-0| J: Gearoid Harney⁽⁷⁾| T: D Pipe| OR: 101

25/1

Has offered little both runs in 2023, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Chepstow (16f, heavy) 8 days ago. Others appeal more.

Form: 2409-7P

Kapitaliste^t,v⁹

Age: 7| Weight: 10-3| J: Miss Thomosina Eyston⁽⁷⁾| T: Alexandra Dunn| OR: 90| C

6/1

Course winner but pulled up in handicap chase at Worcester (23f, soft) 9 days ago. Sort to bounce back reverted to this sphere.

Form: 3P243P

Little Else^t¹⁷⁷

Age: 7| Weight: 10-2| J: Rex Dingle| T: J Scott| OR: 89

9/2

Bumper winner at Chepstow in December 2020 and she got off the mark in this sphere on the back of a wind op in 13-runner handicap at Taunton (23.9f, soft) in April. Much respected on her return.

Form: 5/60751-

Gyenyame¹⁹³

Weight: 12-2| Age: 5

Forecasts

Wonderful Eagle (15/8), Hasty Parisian (4/1), Little Else (9/2), Kapitaliste (6/1), Individualiste (15/2), Gyenyame (8/1), Balkardy (10/1), Bonheur De Ballon (22/1), Platinumcard (25/1)

A few with potential but WONDERFUL EAGLE looks to have got in lightly for his handicap debut so is taken to make it 3-3 in this sphere. Paul Nicholls' Individualiste has a long absence to overcome but is still feared most, with Little Else and Kapitaliste also in the mix in an intriguing event.
