Opened his account over fences at Worcester in May and hasn't looked back since, winning 3 of next 4 starts, including at Newton Abbot last month, jumping fluently. Another sound second at Warwick a week ago and he's sure to give it another good go.

Fairly useful handicap chaser who ended a long losing run after a year off in 6-runner handicap hurdle at Southwell in June. Not seen to best effect when mid-field at Market Rasen the following month and the assessor has given him a major chance returned to fences.

Returned to form (on back of second wind operation) when taking 4-runner handicap chase at Newton Abbot (16.3f) last month. That wasn't a strong race and he was brushed aside at Worcester last time.

Dropped below last winning mark but increasingly looks like one who needs everything to drop right given how he's ridden. Others more persuasive.

Forecasts

Opening Bid (11/10), Pink Eyed Pedro (11/4), Quoi De Neuf (7/2), Kauto The King (9/2), Romanor (6/1)

Verdict

PINK EYED PEDRO is firmly into the veteran stage of his career but he's been given a massive chance by the assessor returned to fences, so he's fancied to cash in. Opening Bid has been in terrific form for some time now so he's the obvious threat.
